The scale house was 12' x 12' and I slept on a twin bed. No heat, no A/C, no swamp cooler, one window, concrete floor. Outside were the corrals and the cows. I swept it out every single day. 2 years of that.

Oh, I did go in the house for one other reason, Cowboys football.

It may sound funny, but I loved it.

he had the sheep to keep him company. :laugh2:

That is a name I haven't heard in a VERY long time. I put in a few hours on top of that mountain back in the late 80's. Trying to haul about 100 gallons of water up the side of a mountain in a 5 ton truck is HELL.
Try it without the truck.

Sheep and cattle do not mix. You can get :shoot1: for suggesting a cattle ranch has sheep.

The only cow I ever loved was medium rare and on a plate with a baked potato. That ain't the kind of love you perverts think of when you think animals.

Meat and potatoes! There is NOTHING like a juicy steak!

I only wish I knew how to grill them...I'm still trying to learn how...I do high heat, but sometime they come out good, and other time they come out like leather!

Just about, my Dad was a bum, we ran from the bill collectors, not a real pleasant experience.

Holy Moses. I wouldn't have even unpacked. 15 when you moved out? Is it a good story? I moved out of the house when I was 11, but stayed on the property. I moved into the scale house where the cattle were weighed at shipping time (ranch kid). I had an AM radio where I listened to Paul Harvey and country music, and read Louis L'Amour novels. I only went into the main house to shower, eat, or use the bathroom.

My Mom called me an only child in a family of 3 kids.

:p:

LOL I didn't, I lived out of my boxes. I got tired of having to repack everything in a month or two. I went to 23 or 24 I can't recall the exact number of grammar schools, and 6 high schools. I got tired of moving and at 15 told my parents to got to hell and struck out on my own. I had an experience sort of like your scale house except we, my brother and I, lived in the chicken coop out behind the house because we had a 2 bedroom home with 5 kids. Good times... How DHS never got us out of that house is beyond me.

LOL unless you've been there, you cannot relate. That place was one steep hilly *******, We used to run all over that friggin training complex, I swear I was part mountain goat when I left there. The Monastery rocked though!!! Graf, Hohenfels, pshaw, the rock licked if you had the misfortune to train to train there.

I lived in Albuquerque for a year when I was in the 5th grade. Lived on Constitution right near Juan Tabo and went to Acoma Elementary.

For this wide eyed country bumpkin that was the big city. :laugh2:

Where'd you go when you struck out on your own? If you don't mind me asking.
