Do you think it’s that easy just to “get him”?
First he is going to want to come here. If the 2-3 Cowboys call you or the Patriots or another contender...where would you go? What if he hates the Cowboys? He is from the northeast...maybe he wants to move back to the east coast.
Second the money will have to be right. If he is just looking for one last payday and a team like the Browns offers him a multi year deal with guaranteed money...do you match that?
Lastly, he is going to have to be happy with him role. Jaylon is only 5 games into his career after not playing for almost two years...he needs reps and Hitchens has earned playing time as well.
Something isn’t “wrong” with the organization if we don’t sign him...this isn’t madden, you can’t just sign any player you want.
Something definitely is wrong with an organization that hasn't seen a superbowl in over 2 decades. When's the last time we've even got to the conference championship?
You can't force the dude to come here, but you do your best to make an enticing offer. I find it hard to believe the Cowboys can't sign any decent free agents. You have to occasionally take a risk and make a splash in free agency. You certainly won't win with the scared approach to FA we've been taking. We've been singing these bargain bin dudes and these guys play like it. Paea is now retired and we cut Carroll. So how did those bargain bin signings turn out? Wasted money and a dumpster defense to show for it.
If Bowman is better than our other lbs, you need to tell those other lbs to accept their role and get Bowman on the field. If Jaylon Smith puts up more of the games he's been putting, he needs to see more of that bench. I'm for Jaylon getting reps, but not if he's a huge liability on the defense.
I would say there is a very real problem here since the FO turned what should have been a possible superbowl year into a rebuilding year. What exactly are we saving all of this money for? Is this the Dallas Buffetts? Has this turned into a mutual fund? We have Dak and even Zeke on relatively cheap contracts compared to what they will eventually get, and we need to take advantage of that.
