Yep. If it were up to Stephen the Cowboys would've never signed Deion Sanders even after Kevin Smith tore his Achilles and we needed Deion. He probably would've signed some average Jag and we would've never got that 5th Super Bowl. Stephen is cheap as heck and his penny pinching is gonna hurt this team for years to come.

You really don't understand the NFL today do you. The Cowboys are the NFL's highest valued franchise. They make tons of money every year and they haven't won a championship in well
over 20 years. Stephen helps keep the team making lots of money and the stands are still full for all home games. Even losing every year, they keep a growing fanbase. As Stephen says, you
don't pay for age and you don't overvalue past performance/glory. If we were just one player away from a surefire SB then he might splurge but, we are far away from that outcome.

You might be 100% correct, although I'm fairly confident that Jerry will choose to hang onto him at least another year, so as not to make his risky decision look more foolish than it already might have been. It's not encouraging at all at this point, that's for sure. He'll have to improve by leaps and bounds next year if he's destined to live up to his past.
Agree with this. At this point they will give him every chance to improve before moving on.
It's just painful watching him try to compete out there now. Hopefully he will recover enough to have a career. It's possible/questionable/doubtful/ you pick.
What it really is is unknown and you can't bank on unknowns

I'm not saying cut the guy, I'm just saying he's not ready. He's playing way too much right now. I'm surprised his knee isn't swelling every week. It's getting embarrassing for him he looks so bad.

Good thinking, more than likely. Jaylon may or may not ever live up to what most of us hoped but If he's able to recover to being good and not necessarily great, it'd more than likely be a workable boost to what we're now getting from him. It's a huge hill he'll have to climb but sometimes, surprising things can happen. I think most of us are hoping he finds a way to overcome his failings like he really needs to.

Perhaps you might see fit to get off of the high horse you're on. There are more ways to see things than what you're over-inflated ideas lead you to believe. There are always other opinions that bear validity other than your own. There are many here who feel as I do and say so.

One of the things that is holding this team back is the stubborn refusal to invest in talent in any other than penny-pinching acquisitions of insufficient talent that stay only for short periods, then must be jettisoned out as quickly as they came in. The draft just isn't quite enough.

Nobody suggested it necessarily must be aged and under-talented vets to pursue. It's simply not the best way to improve nowadays without acquiring more than what the draft is likely to provide. Maybe you'd do well to respect the opinions of others better than you do. Finding success isn't necessarily always a one way street. As the saying goes, there's more than one way to skin a cat.

My sources are telling me that Jaylon Smith can't run anymore, is afraid to take on blockers, can't cover anyone, and is not progressing.

Source: My two eyes

Probably the same thing people were saying about Myles Garrett after 5 starts.

Why wouldn't you hang onto him another year?

It would be kind of dumb to just get rid of him after the season.

One thing that concerns me about Jaylon is that in his interviews he appears a bit oblivious to his crappy play. He is a bit too cheery for me under these circumstances. It's like he has a bit too much Mr. Rogers in him and not enough Mr. Ray Lewis.

They need to sign Bowman. They let so many players slip by them, because they felt they were older and wanted to play their own picks, FA's or whatever. How has that worked out?

After seeing Peppers and Long make plays Thursday night. Freeney last year and the year before.

I was, and am usually against that, so I could see where the team was coming from in. a way. But not now, I changed my opinion. They need to bring in Bowman, he will not be a progress stopper. This teams reluctance to sign players is the progress stopper...it stops the progress of having playmakers to get to a SB.

Bowman can't play anymore, his change of direction has atrophied to point where he lunges instead of cutting. Always on the ground.

Sign Daryl Washington instead.

Agreed. He's overly cheery for his substandard play
