I enjoy a man w/a sense of humor.

The reality is that I long ago adopted a ketogenic diet and haven't so much as touched a cherry in over 10 years. Don't eat em. Don't pick 'em.

I notice that referencing the Cowboys 17-6 record of the last two seasons...really unnerves you. I'd think such overwhelming Cowboy success would be universally celebrated by Cowboy fans. Alas...I guess not.

I prefer facts over fake news. True improvement starts with being honest with yourself. Just because someone might look skinny in front of a deformed mirror, doesn't change the fact they are still fat.

Did you ever wonder why we are the only thee teams in the NFC that haven't played in the NFC championship game since 1996?
Because Jerry and the team prefers the view on the deformed mirror than the truth.

I was one of the biggest critics of the Cowboys front office this forum has ever known. But 2/3 of the big issues have been addressed in how they conducted their business. I was forced to be big enough and honest enough to reasses.

Over the past 4 seasons...when Dallas hasn't been forced to trot out a backup quarterback...they sit:
30 wins
10 losses

Not a 3 game stretch. Not 10. Not one season or two. I'm talking 2014, 2015, 2016, and 7 games of 2017. The most recent FOUR SEASONS. That's a luxury hotel full of wins.

As for the playoffs...I suppose we couldn't beat Green Bay and the Zebras. Dez caught the ball...that was no legit penalty on Butler...Irving was held. Is what it is.

We lost to Green Bay because of our defense. Until our defense gets fixed, we are not going to go far in the playoffs playing against the better teams. They've been trying to build the defense past 8 years. Whatever they are doing is not working. They need to change their "process" or else we'll be still talking about the bad defense 8 years later.

What? We are #9 in total yards given in defense. We have 25 sacks. We have a young d, and we knew our secondary (youth turnover) was gonna take time.

It's best to look at what the team has done since they moved from impulsivity to analytics. Stephen Jones is a big sabermetrics guy and he mostly drives the staff on draft day.

We now have one of the best pass rushes in the NFL. That's perhaps the most difficult ingredient to acquire. We have 3 promising new pieces for the secondary that will mature.

If Lee's nerve heals a bit more...and he gains some experience...that helps the LB core tremendously. It's quite likely we'll draft one or two linebackers high in the draft.

This team has been 30-10* without a good defense and that liability has played up in the postseason.

As I like to say...follow the trend-line.

We are #24th in points per drive. That's the most important stat when it comes to evaluating how good/bad a defense is. Ultimately, the job of the defense it not to allow the other team to score.

We were #29th before the SF and Commanders game. One team had a rookie QB starting his first game and the other had 1/2 of their offense injured. Let's see how good we are after facing next three teams with good offenses.

Lee has a nerve problem?

You're right of course about the PPD stat. In fairness, we played some pretty good offenses there with GB and the Rams with our top two LBs out (and no Irving for the Rams). So there's a reason both for that number being high already and reason to think the averages might continue to improve a bit.

But that number does suck and is a good measure of how the defense has played overall.

I'm sure all 32 teams played some good and bad offenses. And most likely they all had injuries also. It's highly unlikely we were the only team with key injuries. So the rankings are fair for all teams.

Not sure injuries are evenly distributed, but my point was what you're saying here. Everybody plays both good and bad teams, so after 7 games the 24th is probably pretty accurate.

My point about the injuries is that in our three cases, we now have those guys back. That's worth noting as they're three of our better defenders.

Funny. Saw you agreeing with Zman5’s premise, even crediting the reasoning behind his premise. But when you added some perspective, which should not be disregarded, you were basically told that you were wrong and to go fishing elsewhere.

Gotta love how that works. Lol

We're actually 27th in points allowed per drive. FO's version of the stat filters out kneeldown drives and assigns 7 points for every TD, ignoring the subsequent conversion attempt.

Cowboys' Opponents
vs. Cowboys
151 points on 72 drives (2.10 ppd)
in their other games
829 points on 486 drives (1.71 ppd)

Our opponents' offensive performances in their other games would rank 20th in points per drive.

You're clamoring for the Cowboys to have retained Claiborne, reeks of desperation on your part.

No, your attempting to minimize him in the face of the Nolan Carroll failure is the only thing that "reeks of desperation".

You make excuses like it's your job.
