so Switzer is returning punts and kickoffs, in his first NFL action? Do ya think that is too much for him?

"Oh man!! Now here's a guy ... that we should all give an award! He has shown heart, grit and determination to help his team! To be so injured all preseason and to have a performance like he did ... nobody thought he'd play until right before kickoff! Wow ... what a guy!"
If eye-rolls could be heard, it would be deafening in here....

Both get to face live action. Settle this situation on the field of play. Hard to believe we got to this point.
Instead of it being a bad thing i see it as a good thing. Both have looked really good when in there during the preseason. Just seems like they want the best guy to start. And it looks like theyre making it hard to decide because both have been very good. Its a good problem to have instead looking at it in a negative way.

Totally disagree. No where has Green shown that he's better at left guard than Cooper has. Zero visual evidence. Add to that the guy can't make it through practices, much less games.

'Kellen Moore-level stupid' move.
Woh, woh, woh, woh, woh!

First of all, we've seen Green play with this unit and not miss a beat in Tyrone Smith's absence last year...so you have to know that factors into their lack of confidence in naming a starter. Second, Kellen Moore level stupid was previously unattainable until they recently brought Kellen Moore back. It's a bit soon to be throwing that label around.

And therein, I think is the rub. The coaches ability to evaluate both in preseason was interrupted by injury to Green, and furthermore, the coaches recognize that the regular season will be an altogether different battle from the one they have faced thus far. With Green, they have seen him in action with live bullets flying, whereas with Cooper, he's seen live action, but not with this star-studded surroundings he enjoys in Dallas. So, I'm guessing, the thinking is, they are going to give both Cooper and Green as fair a shake as they can to see if someone finally emerges as the clear-cut winner for starting at LG.

I think from an ability standpoint, the coaches were satisfied with going with Green at right tackle based on what he had showed when healthy, but then decided instead of having Collins practice there just in case that it would be better for him to concentrate all of his time at tackle.

Part of the reason for that, I believe, is because they felt Cooper would be good enough at guard if Green couldn't stay healthy. Then, they hedged their bets a little more by signing Bell, who has played much worse inside than I expected.

I don't know at this point how much of a fair shake they are going to give Green and Cooper. I suspect that if Green starts Sunday and the offense doesn't miss a beat that he'll start until he gets injured. But maybe they actually will rotate them equally to see if one clearly separates from the other.

So like play #2 from scrimmage?

Maybe, but it isn't like he's never made it through a game before. There's no way he can be expected to make it through the season, but we might get a few games out of him.

Rotating him with Cooper might actually help preserve him some since it isn't like he gets hurt every other play.

Green is technically much better at T than he is at G. He looks very uncormfortable inside and was getting pushed into the backfield, allowing his defender to make several backside stops or at the very least make the RB change where he was going.
