Yeah, that sounds a little fishy. He could mean in a manner of, "they didn't see what I saw", but if he's acknowledging that he withheld information from the rest of the league then that's pretty shady. It's one thing to say that there's a level of perspective that cannot be gained through a dictated report, it's entirely another to say that you left information out of the report.

You did backtrack and try to say it's just your opinion, then you continue on with your definites. All too well, unfortunately I've had 400 hernia surgeries and the numbers finally caught up. Im a unic, not that there is anything wrong with unics. I wish mrtxstar was there before hand to tell me the absolute certainty of the surgeries

It is just as ignorant to make the statement that he will never play again as it is to say that he will come back 100%. Both are possible. This is not a black or white issue. There are many shades of gray. As I said in another post, I have several nerves that are damaged and give me problems from time to time. The surgeries that I had to relieve the pain from those nerves was ten years ago. It is possible that the nerves will have certain degrees of numbness, have a burning sensation, have a tingling feeling or many more different sensations . Those could last a lifetime. There are test that determines if a nerve is damaged, but there is not a test that determines how it will eventually heal. The doctor can make an educated guess based on similar injuries and the long term results, but guessing us all that he can do. The different sensations he has may not be severe enough to hamper his playing ability at all or it is possible that they limit his physical activity. At his age, I hope that he returns to top form, but it is far from certain. Yes, age is a big factor in the healing process. I have read many statements that said the nerve was only stretched, not damaged. Stretching the nerve is damage. The fact that DR. Cooper works for the Cowboys is not a big advantage IMO. The only realistic way to look at this is to say that Smith seems to be healing well and there are reasons to be optimistic,

I find it hilarious that until Dallas drafted Smith that the reality was that he is recovering well, but is recovery was no sure thing. By turning in that draft card, Jerry healed him. Now there is no doubt that he will recover 100%. I certainly hope the young man recovers, there was no miraculous recovery from his pre-draft condition to his current state of recovery. Things are looking good, but nothing about his recovery is certain.

Big difference in being confident and saying there's no doubt.

I think if you had simply said, "I don't think he's going to come back," you might have gotten your typical criticism from the Pollyannas among us. But I don't think it would have been nearly as resounding as it has been.
