Let Parsons walk so we can give Lance a Dakesque contract. The last thing we need is for the Giants to snatch him up and win the next 4 or 5 Super Bowls.

Either bring him or Cooper back but don’t spend $ on both . Mid rounds draft someone who can actually be a back up and in 26 your comfortable playing if injury or lousy play by the starter happens . Perhaps the Syracuse or Ole Miss QB’s .
I'm hometown-rooting for a Kyle McCord (Syracuse) draft pick. Kid is super-smart, a natural born leader, and the most accurate passer I've seen in a long time.

The Cowboys have cobbled along with Rush and he’s “ serviceable “ but heck the Eagles have a young gun slinger Tanner McKee started going up top end zone on Dallas .

It’s about time a draft pick was invested as a challenge and McCord or Dart fit the bill . Let him get with Marty’s son and NFL coaching and develop an alternative .

I’m high on this kid, too. I’m an Ole Miss fan and I’d take him over Dart. I’d take a shot on either in rounds 2-4. May not work out but at least it would be putting some stock in a position that’s been over looked since Aikman retired.

Trey Lance is among the Dallas Cowboys free agents this offseason.

The Dallas Cowboys have a long list of unrestricted free agents who will officially hit the open market in a little less than two months. Of those, six or seven were significant contributors in 2024, meaning the Cowboys have some difficult decisions ahead of them in the coming weeks.

Today’s free agent profile series examines a player who wasn’t one of those significant contributors because he barely saw the field last season. That would be quarterback Trey Lance.

Year Review: Trey Lance’s 2024 season with the Dallas Cowboys was characterized by limited opportunities and mixed performances. The 24-year-old quarterback, who the Cowboys acquired in August of 2023, spent nearly the entirety of the regular season as Dallas’ third-string quarterback.

Cowboys drafted a Mike White some yrs ago and as a a Jet he riddled the Bengals for 450 yards . Time to draft another QB to work with and eventually challenge the status quo here .

Bring back either Cooper or Lance in 25 not both .

I honestly think there are a few 2-4 round QBs who can challenge all QBs on our roster. I’m sick of having QBs with so many limitations. No QB on our roster will ever make a run at a SB no matter who the GM, HC or OC is. Rush has the brain but his physical skills are only enough to get you through a few games.

Whatever our FO wants…I mean look at one example of their cap management last year involving Trey Lance:
  • Trey Lance total cap hit for the 2024 season - $5.1 million. (Plus a 2024 4th rd draft pick)
  • Saquon Barkley total cap hit after restructure: $3.8 million. (As an UFA, no draft pick lost)
With this kind of cap genius, it’s hard to understand why we haven’t been to a conference championship game in 3 decades.

A must re-sign, you already devoted 2 years of development and a 4th rounder. That's a lot to just let him walk away for nothing, lol.
They gave him 2 seasons to improve. He failed miserably. Many 4th rounders are given less before being moved on from. It was a gamble worth taking that didn’t pay off… time to move on with someone who actually has a chance of developing!

The question is what should Dallas do? My answer is I don't think Lance has it in him to be a solid NFL starter. Sure his playing time has been limited but let's be honest, two teams have tried to turn him into a backup and neither has been successful. I admit, the Cowboys have not given him an opportunity to develop through experience, but maybe that is because they have no hope for him either. If I am Dallas, I look for a draftable QB this year and hope to make him the backup, and possibly heir apparent to Dak in a year of two.
