We have Gregory for three more years.

If he has the pass rush presence he was expected to bring, he can easily return value.
Right. And no matter how well he produces, he'll never get D-Law or Vernon or Von Miller money because everyone and their brother knows he's one screw up away from eternal banishment to the shadow realm.

And only the Cowboys have experience in keeping him off the drugs, if he goes to a new place and things go south he can easily slip back into darkness.

If by some miracle Gregory becomes the 10+ sack a season lightning quick terror off the right edge... his max potential earning will always be lower than his production, and the Cowboys will have all the leverage.

Dude. Stop. Von Miller got Von Miller money after a similar situation to RG. Sure, he didn't miss as much time as Gregory, but he had the same concerns and rose above the demons holding him back. And was Super Bowl MVP. And got paid.

If RG plays like his potential foreshadows, he will get above 12M aav. And I hope it's with us opposite side Tank on the DL. Both looked up long term. Kid just needs to get out there and produce and be given a steady stream of snaps.

Von Miller missed 6 games, but he was only supposed to miss 4. He missed 6 because Goodell caught him lying about an excuse. But of course Bell didn't get the same punishment for lying about his cell phone because he plays for one of Goody's favorite teams.

Gregory has missed a total of 30... thirty... THIRTY... games due to suspension, plus an additional 6 or so due to injury. There's red flags all over the board, and Gregory is reportedly stuck in Stage 3 (one strike away from NFL death row) for life at this point... M.Bryant and J.Gordon are in the same boat. Von Miller went off Stage 2 in 2014 and he's never had an infraction since.

Von Miller was viewed as a concern and possible addict and risk. He then went on to win SB MVP. And then got a huge pay day, as be showed DEN FO he was past it and worth the contract and risk.

Gregory can't make Jerry look good at this point. Even if he begins to produce this season, he's a busted pick.
I agree Gregory is a busted pick. But he could make JJ look good. If Gregory gets 10 sacks this season I dont think anyone will be saying he was a bust. I don't think that will happen but it is possible.

Randy would likely have a contract in 2021 that he loses the guarantees if he's suspended. That is used on many contracts including Terrance Williams' contract.

Agree, both can work.
Connor is Jason Kelce/Lane Johnson. Connor Williams might be the best pulling guard in the league by year 2, he's that good and athletic. His primary weakness is man blocking which might hurt us a bit at the goal line playing guard.

if anything, Hernandez was the Leary clone, maybe better in time than Leary. We'll see.

jerry 2nd round gambles could take interesting turn this year.

jaylon appears fully healed.
dlaw may repeat what he did last year
even randy gregory may get a full year to show if his skills translate in the nfl

well lets hope they make jerry look good...

how do you think they will do?
If I had to bet I'd say
1. Avg
2. Good
3. Limited action

Randy only got credit for his rookie season. Cowboys still have Gregory's rights for 3 years. That final year he would be restricted.
Ok I'm really glad you guys know these things. Cuz I thought he was in a contract year. I was worried he'd blow up in a contract year and then we'd have to make a difficult decision on signing him. This is why I come to this forum. I learn a lot.

I prefer what they've done the last two years in the 2nd round. No gambles. Don't get cute. Just take good football players.

BTW, Jaylon Smith will not play a down in the NFL at 100%. You're getting sucked in by offseason fluff articles. His leg is permanently damaged. He'll never move the same.

You've been completely wrong about Smith to this point so why stop now?

awuzie cb

so-so: carter, lb - but he was multiyear starter

bad one: escobar
Pablo was underutilized living on the roster under Witten' s shade, he had pretty good size&hands to be any teams decent red zone threat.o_O
