He wasn’t great but he played 41 games. Don’t know why you chose to focus on what you think is a bad pick in that draft instead of talking about all the good picks. But you’re not alone which is why this board is what it is.
He played only 16 games for the Cowboys and had no starts. He was used primarily as a kick returner. As a receiver he had 6 catches for 41 yards. The whole premise of this thread is to see how we did in the 4th round the past decade and Ryan Switzer was a complete miss! You can come up with some excellent football players in the 4th round and the Cowboys have. Dalton Schultz was very good and Tony Pollard has been terrific. Dak developed into a franchise QB. When you draft a player regardless of the round, and they only last one season they’re a bust, especially when they only last three seasons in the NFL. Earlier today you called yourself a realist and you’re as far from a realistic is there is on his board. Lol A big part of being a realist is being objective.

Right but being a negative Nancy ALL THE TIME? You’re proud of that?
What are you talking about? You are just making stuff up. I’m not negative even close to all of the time. I call them fairly and objectively. it’s one thing to spin to the positive in general but you need to take off the everything the cowboys do and have is the greatest Glasses. At least try to be objective About something.

I think Jerry is the sole reason for the past 27 years of no SB’s. I’ve always been objective. Just hate all the posters who are always negative.

That’s fine, but The problem is you seem to portray everyone as always negative based on what I’ve seen the last couple of days Just because they disagree with you on something. It seems a card you pull out instead of arguing the point at hand as if it gives you a “win”

Only the ones that are always negative.

So you'd say:
  • Ferguson: Likely Win
  • Cox: Likely Loss?
  • Ball: Likely Loss
  • Robinson: Loss
  • Biadasz: Win
  • Pollard: Win
  • Armstrong: Win
  • Shultz: Win
  • Switzer: Loss
  • Tapper: Loss
  • Dak: Win
  • Wilson: Win
  • Hitchens: Win
  • Web: Loss
Cox is probably the only one where it's still unclear but it looks like 8/14 were successes with three franchise-tagged players including a QB (Dak). You probably call that a win if it was your 1st round selections.
That's pretty phenomenal getting 4 Pro Bowlers out of the 4th round. Definitely too early for Ferg, Cox, and Ball to call it. I think Ferg will end up being a win though. With Ball, I hope he can go all T. Steele and develop out of no where. Cox just hasn't gotten opportunities with the Cowboys playing mostly 2 LB sets and safeties playing in coverage spots he may excel in.

Webb, Tapper, Robinson got pushed off the team quickly so we're fails. The Ryan Switzer situation was an odd one. Thought he had a decent year on ST in year one, but Cole Beasley and Tavon Austin made him expendable.

Yep: 4th round has been kind to us. 3rd? Not so much

Ryan Switzer was not a good pick. That isn't a negative take. It is just an obvious one. Not all 4th picks are going to turn into a pro-bowler or top player, but you at least hope for a solid, consistent contributor. Swizter did nothing as a WR. He had a few moments as a return man, but wasn't consistent. I don't think 321 yards receiving over his entire career clasifies as good for a 4th rounder. That is a very low standard. A good for a 4th rounder probably averages close to 300 yards per season.

Going a bit further back, Marion Barber III was a 4th round pick that turned out pretty well for Dallas.

  • Ferguson: Likely Win

  • Ball: Too early

  • Tapper: Loss

So I’ve got 10-3. That’s pretty good.
That's damn good. They need to go back and review what their strategy has been over the years in that round, and go back to it some. I was also fooled by Webb, but that's what happens. Nobody, ever, is 100 percent.
