Yeah @Jarntt stop triggering Rockhead, you must live in a fantasy world where everything is roses and unicorns.
You mean your car does run on
Like many of their 4th and 5th round DE selections. They would say they weren't used correctly in college, or were raw, needed time.
Well the coaching stafff here did not know how to use them either.

Jury still out on Golston. Armstrong seems a good pick, but will he be what they want him to be, or more like what the fans want him to be. Maybe he is exactly what the team wants him to be. Will see how he progresses this season.

But go back further.
Tapper, Anae, Joe Jackson, Jelks (though a 7th round), Ryan Russell (another player touted to be a steal), Gardner, Crawford (kept way too long).

None of them worked out.
Have to include Peppi Zellner on that list.

Why do you always have to take the negative take on everything?
I am an objective and a realist. It's OK to be a fan and not pretty everything this team does is the greatest. Bizarre you would categorize someone disagreeing that Switzer was a good pick or as you put it he was a "win" as being negative

So you'd say:
  • Ferguson: Likely Win
  • Cox: Likely Loss?
  • Ball: Likely Loss
  • Robinson: Loss
  • Biadasz: Win
  • Pollard: Win
  • Armstrong: Win
  • Shultz: Win
  • Switzer: Loss
  • Tapper: Loss
  • Dak: Win
  • Wilson: Win
  • Hitchens: Win
  • Web: Loss
Cox is probably the only one where it's still unclear but it looks like 8/14 were successes with three franchise-tagged players including a QB (Dak). You probably call that a win if it was your 1st round selections.
I’m just waiting to see if there’s someone stupid enough to put Dak in the loss column. Lol

  • Ferguson: Likely Win
  • Cox: Likely Win
  • Ball: Too early
  • Biadasz: Win
  • Robinson: Loss
  • Pollard: Win
  • Armstrong: Win
  • Shultz: Win
  • Switzer: Win
  • Tapper: Loss
  • Dak: Win
  • Wilson: Win
  • Hitchens: Win
  • Web: Loss
So I’ve got 10-3. That’s pretty good.
You have Ryan Switzer as a win? How the heck was he a win? He lasted one season with the Cowboys. He wasn’t a win for anyone he only lasted three years in the league. He was a complete bust. Lol

We crush it in round 4.

I can’t believe this is even a question. If you get production out of a fourth round pick, you are doing better than most. And if you are consistently doing that, draft after draft, you are drafting well.

Switzer did what a 4th round pick was supposed to do. Contribute to your abilities and what is asked.
Some fans expect every pick to be an impact starter. 4th round picks usually are not. However, it is the hope of teams for them to develop into a solid starter. Many fans do not want to understand that.
Therefore they feel the need to complain.
I will say I liked Switzer coming out of UNC his return abilities alone exited me. Don't know if he was used incorrectly, too dense to understand pro dialogue and routes or what. The draft in itself is a crap shoot, even in round #1. Kids coming out of college no matter what they did there is a mystery until they get into preseason and the ever quickening regular season. We live in a era in which we expect instant results. So many qb's fail because of this. Ryan Leaf comes to mind. Developmental time is almost non existent today.

He was never a Cole Beasley.

Why so uptight? You can’t even acknowledge the good picks and have to spend all that time trying to prove a negative. That’s sad.
I acknowledged 8 picks in the 4th round made AFTER Switzer. I wouldn't categorize that as uptight, just lucid. And no, it doesn't take much time at all to figure out this type of thing if you pay attention.

If you could explain your grading system, maybe that would help. Was Taco Charlton a good pick? Devin Street? Danny Coale? Think Skyler Green has a large mural at the Star?

Always liked Hitchens. The guy never got hurt and was a thumper just making tackles. I actually thought he wasn't that bad a deal for 10 mil a year.

  • With Switzer, I'd argue it's an NFL win, Cowboys loss.
  • With Cox I'd argue he hasn't played yet, and likely won't be a starter this season. Talent has flashed though so I don't disagree
  • With Ball at this point, I'd be surprised if he makes the roster after training camp.
What do you mean when you say switzer is a nfl win? I thought switzer was great pick for you guys. I thought the eagles made a mistake in drafting Mack Hollins (118) ahead of switzer (133) both out of North Carolina. Seems like smaller, quicker, receivers and rb's have a tougher transition to the nfl. Still curious to see if calvin austin does anything for the steelers.

Yeah I’ll back track on that one.

I never looked it up and from memory thought he did more at Pittsburg than he did. I guess that’s the problem, unless it’s the Cowboys I really don’t watch enough to pass comment on fringe players.

And Cowboys took Switzer because the eagles took (the guy they wanted) RB/KR Donnel Pumphrey right ahead of them. Both were busts.

Never said any of that but you do your negative self.

How can a 4th round pick be alright if you’re moving on from them after only one season? He had one nice return for a TD then he cost us a game with a fumble against the Rams. He was a total bust! I’m surprised you thought anyone was bad from the 4th round. Lol

He wasn’t great but he played 41 games. Don’t know why you chose to focus on what you think is a bad pick in that draft instead of talking about all the good picks. But you’re not alone which is why this board is what it is.
