Both he and Nolan Carroll were just the worst. You could not have done worse if you tried. Millions and millions invested in both for virtually nothing in return. You would be hard-pressed to find two worse examples in free agency.
In fairness, Thornton was actually pretty good in Philly before we signed him, granted as a 3-4 DE and not as a 4-3 DT. So you could at least somewhat justify his signing.
Carroll was a turd for a few years in Philly and we ran after him like a dog after a stick of meat.
