He is the most knowledgeable and respectful enemy fan that we have ever had in this forum.
@Aerolithe_Lion is always welcome in this house, he sets the standard for opposing comp entering this hallowed ground.
He is the baseline, all others not meeting that level shall be dismissed quickly.
and I think he's from NC, which makes him okay. Not sure why he doesn't like the panthers.

Trust me, Stephen's timing here is not a coincidence.......

Cowboys add Jason Peters to practice squad
Posted by Mike Florio on September 5, 2022, 9:15 AM EDT
The deal is done. But it’s not a full-blown roster-spot deal.

Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports that the Cowboys have added tackle Jason Peters to the practice squad

“This allows Peters, 40, to ease into work after not going to a training camp,” Archer tweeted.

It also allows the Cowboys to avoid owing Peters his full salary for 2022, under the concept of termination pay. If he were on the Week One active roster and if the team decided things weren’t working out, he would have been entitled to his full salary if he’d been released.

So . . . wait, the Cowboys had a plan about this all along? I was saying that fans upset over no FA signings shouldn't be upset because free agency wasn't over.

So, now that we got our free agent signed, is it still a disaster that we didn't sign anyone in free agency?

By signing Peters, would this put us on par with how many moves the Rams made in free agency vs. homegrown?

According to them, Peters is a sleeper agent. He's injury prone and has nothing left in his tank. He'll hurt us more than he'll help. Especially with all of the false starts.
All 3 penalties from last year?

Did they not know we went through four years on Connor Williams leading or being near tops of the league in penalties

Jeff Cavanaugh was talking about how Peters starts out on the practice squad as a protected player. I wonder what makes a newly signed player protected on the practice squad.

I am glad we signed someone as none of the ones on our team were worth starting and Smith is a rookie. but Wouldn't Fisher been a better option. Peters was great. future HOFer, but he is 40. that's a concern
Fisher is still battling injuries.

What it boils down to is Fisher wants $10-12 million. Peters likely signed for $2-4 million.

The reality is, Peters graded out higher than Fisher allowed one less sack and had 5 less penalties.

He was given a 68.2 grade on the 2021 season by Pro Football Focus (PFF) and ranked 46th out of 83 offensive tackles who had enough snaps to qualify for a ranking. He was credited, or blamed, with giving up seven sacks in just 874 snaps.

Dallas just admitted Tyler isn't starting material.

You mean McGovern isn't up to their standards for starting offensive line.

My guess is Tyler will start between LT and LG, and McGovern won't.

don’t you worry. Fish will be out with an “exclusive exclusive” soon enough.

Jerry could pee on Fisher's boots, and he'd say it was raining.

Could have had something to do with Sam Darnold being their qb, lol

seriously though, they have great wide receiver speed and took steps to fix the offensive line. If Christian McCaffrey stay healthy all year, Aerolithe may get on that Panther bandwagon

He wasn't going to sign in March. He's 40 and wanted no part of TC. He did just what he wanted by waiting till the last moment when his
training would be minimized.

Hopefully they at least asked.

at this point, I will take it. I think he can speed up Tylers learning curve. I agree.

Tyron Smith will also be around in practices to help coach up Tyler Smith. So Smith will get tutored by two future HOF left tackles. It could be worse.

I went back and read up on Tyler Smith's pre-draft evaluations. He was clearly OT4 on many lists, and considered a good late 1st round, early 2nd round prospect. Remember that 5-time Pro Bowl LT Flozell Adams was the 38th pick in the NFL draft in 1998. Tyler Smith may never be as good as Peters or Tyron Smith in their prime. But he has the tools to be a very good LT in the NFL, and getting tutored by two HOF players is a pretty good start to his career.

Let's face it. Cross is a rookie LT that will be starting in Seattle. It was probably inevitable that Tyler Smith was going to start at some point this season due to Tyron Smith's recent injury history. I think the Cowboys were pushing him at Left Guard to make sure he got on the field to get real world NFL experience in games, even as they waited for the likely injury of Tyron. That Tyron got injured in training camp, rather than later in the season may work to the Cowboys benefit.

Getting Tyron Smith back late in the season for a playoff run is not a bad option. Also, the Cowboys worked McGovern quite a lot at Center during training camp. We could conceivably be looking at a playoff Oline of LT Tyron Smith, LG Tyler Smith, C Connor McGovern, RG Zack Martin, and RT Jason Peters. With all the Cowboys in-season success, the important thing to most fans, and also the Jones family is translating that into playoff success, and getting to another Super Bowl. The Cowboys could stumble out of the gate with a 5-3 record - losing to the Buccaneers, Bengals and Rams, 3 of the last 4 Super Bowl contestants. But with the team getting healthier as the year progresses, and with the development of young players, they could go on a late season run and push into the playoffs in the best condition they've been in since 2014, when they had a team worthy of the Super Bowl.

I'm not making a prediction. But even if they experience a slow start, the Cowboys have set themselves up for late season strength and playoff success. That is the most you can ask of your front office. Now, it is up to the coaches and players to fulfill the promise.

This is a GREAT signing. Not a good signing a GREAT signing. He has more left in the tank than Tyron and was a better player last season. He sort of revived himself with Chicago. That left side of the OL around week 3/4 will be dominant in run blocking with Peters and Smith.

thanks. I really didn't spend much time researching their performances. this is helpful.

like I said, he is better, way better than anybody we go on the team.
