Signed by Cowboys Cowboys and star DL Quinnen Williams agree to 3-year, $105.9M extension

It appears to me that we had $5 million in cap space before this extension, so we should have $10 million-plus after it. We can create more if needed, but if we don't use it to add a veteran, we'll definitely roll it for Pickens.
I think they are up to over 15. It looks like we will getting a player or players.

It's an extension, so the 2 years left on the contract are not voided. This is a 35M per year extension that kicks in in 2028, where DT prices will likely exceed $40M per year
And he could be out of the league by then. You can sell it both ways but it’s just trying to guide a narrative when people do that. It is what it is, $35M per signed now. Nothing else. And I’m damn happy with it personally.

It’s a good deal for the team and Q.

Well well well isn't it something that you guys didn't think that they would do something like this but the last two offseason we keep saying it I don't care about people who think we should have kept Parsons the last two years not just the off seasons but the trade deadlines the ability to want to move a guy like OSA that they just signed the things they've done with the coaching staff I get it no one's going to give Jerry credit for anything But these are moving different it may not be the Rams it may not be the Eagles but when you look at the way the rest of the league operates the Cowboys are usually in line with most of the league They may not go all in crazy but I'm telling you their mindset has changed the last two seasons..

This is a good thing and don't say well they didn't sign George yet because I don't think they intended to I don't think they were gonna make a decision to keep two receivers in the top five money earners they can't afford it most team don't we just watch the Eagles get rid of A.J. Brown so do you really want to have that conversation that they should sign everyone and have the ability to sign everyone and that the cap doesn't exist i'm sorry I just want to give them props this is really good it opens up a little money just in case and I'm not saying they're gonna do it but they could bring in another guy before the season starts they now can make a trade and it leaves the franchise tag open for George yes they probably are going to tag him but without the intention to keep him but this time probably make the trade or they may sign him but I'm just saying,

They are moving differently than they have in the past of doing it quicker they're making tougher decisions and I'm not saying it's perfect I just think that people who say it's not different are not paying attention when they're walking away from a guy like Parsons the way they did and that trade was good in my opinion II think they may have won or it was even but that's something that's only been done once in that situation that Jerry's let a home grown hero a fan favorite for the most part a superstar a stunned at his position to leave his team without paying him..

That is moving differently that is willing to do the tough things for the betterment of the team in their minds Parsons just was gonna be more of a distraction then he was helping on the field for the money he wanted he wasn't worth keeping and they got very good compensation and this seals the deal on that because they did use a draft pick and now they used the money that would have went to Parsons on QW..

Yes, I know it's long winded I gotta go i'm on coffee I'm tired i'm an HVAC contractor in Texas and a heat wave and I use talk to text but that's my opinion they've been moving differently and maybe incremental moves it may be too small for you and not enough but I like this stuff...

You think about it in the trade they ended up now with a extended QW he's here for a while They moved o and in his place I think some of that depth like Ogbonnnia or whatever his name is is better than you think, But they still got Clark and they added Gary, Maybe the pass rush isn't bolstered yet but I think the group will do that very well,

He went and got winters, I think they drafted pretty well we won't know yet but I think the last two drafts are gonna show up more this year than they did last, And get this they still have another first round pick I believe they came from this whole thing They still can use that this was a big win for the Cowboys and this is where the trade was headed when they got rid of Parsons and I think it's shaping up pretty damn well..

The money is asinine when it’s guys like Jalen Phillips getting 30 million a year. When it comes to guys like Quinnen? He’s worth it and does everything the right way.
And on the flip side of that think about how stupid the Giants are to let a guy like Dexter go and he only took a small bump in guaranteed money he's making $28 million on a one year deal I mean they let him go for that they couldn't get it done I mean is that what we talk about Jerry and Steven not getting it done and yet the Jets let go of Quinn and Williams and and the Giants let go of Dexter Lawrence who's on a similar level and then all Cincinnati had to do is give him a little bump in guaranteed money now they have him on a one year $28 million deal..

This was a great signing maybe we only get two great years out of him and then he turns into what Jonathan Hankins in year three and 4 I'll take that.. Take the Cowboys with this deal they don't have to cut him because it's too expensive later it's a short deal it's fair it's in the market but they can keep him on one year deals after smaller money I mean the guys on this 3rd contract now we can look into hey this guy can stick around for three or four years and the cowboys won't have to regret the deal at all..

Does this free up cap space in the first couple years versus the old contract?
I don't know why fans worry about the cap so much this was more about getting him signed but maybe yes signing early I don't know about two years from now but this year right now it freed up like 20 mil.. They were wanting to make a move or sign somebody else to an extension they now have the ability,,

This may not happen immediately people are thinking something's gonna happen now with a trade I think they're gonna wait till after camp and after they're doing cut downs and just like the Packers acquired Parsons late right before the season I think the Cowboys want to do a full evaluation to see which position they need the most and now they have the funds and the freedom to do so and make the team better before game one..

Last time I saw another team sign their DT to a huge contract *less than this one*, people in here said "a contract like this is usually followed by an injury...you can guarantee it" (and everyone Liked it)

Hope that's not true!!!!!

Can't believe they gave a 2.5 sack a year guy who'll be 29 in a few months this much guaranteed money. Jerry always pays people for what they USED to be....never for what they are becoming. Maybe we can resign Zeke for 80M !!!!!

I think they are up to over 15. It looks like we will getting a player or players.
I haven't seen the numbers yet. It depends on how much they want to pay up front. He was supposed to have a $21 million cap hit this year. I don't know if I see them cutting it all the way back to $5 million with a $105 million extension, especially with $101 million guaranteed. Got to get those guarantees out of the way, so they can cut him in a few years if needed without taking a huge hit.

I would have just paid Micah.

He’s worth it.

Dallas is paying everyone else.

Q just got a check.
While I would have too, Quinnen is more than a consolation prize for me. I believe what we've been missing for a long time is a game wrecker in the middle of the DL. Teams that win Super Bowls generally have that player. Now, I would have preferred that we signed that game wrecker without compromising the outside pass rush, but that's not how we do things here. Just like Micah wasn't as effective as he could have been because he just had complementary players around him, Quinnen will be the target of double teams unless someone else proves he can consistently win one-on-ones. It's not that hard to give help against one DL in the form of a chip or a chuck or even an outright double team. If you do that and another player constantly wins, you've got to pick your poison.
