Cowboys are in the worst position financially and personnel wise I can remember

Well like one poster stated before.... the salary cap is not our real problem. Our management is. What happened or what kind of success did we have when we had PLENTY of cap space???

We still didn't advance through the playoffs. So I don't understand why people are crying about what our top salaried players are making. When the cap space was plentiful, we did absolutely nothing with it.
Folks gotta research more and stop repeating the gaslighting made up set of so called facts that certain media outlets tell them. We have plenty of cap space. I agree with you.

the cowboys can free up 100M of cap space if they want to, that doesnt sound like a bad financial position to me.

sure dak's contract sucks but thats just part of the overall
Problem is they gotta want to. We will see if they open up the money bags and pony up to get better or be all in and do little again.

This is wrong. No offense. We have plenty of cap.
You're wrong, we stand at -$7m. We're bottom 10 in available CAP, and most teams can also restructure if they wanted....in any case the amount arent the biggest obstacles in free agency it's that we've so many holes to fill and it only takes ONE Team, with similar money and a better offer of success and we'll lose out.

Rule number one, never discuss with someone who uses the word 'research'.

Actually, he's right. The things is, the Jones clan has to want to make the moves necessary.
No, you're both wrong. We CAN restructure into the future, that's not having plenty of CAP. So what's your plan on spending that CAP, or are you suggesting we do it for the sake of it?

The Cowboys are in a horrible state where they are and will be paying several players Top Pay but the team has not and will not achieved any success.
Currently we are paying the Top QB salary, $60 avg to Dak.
2nd highest WR to Cee Dee ($34).
We will be paying Micah the Top DE salary, $35-40 avg.
We will need to resign Aubree who will likely demand and deserve the Top Pay for Kicker, $7 avg.
Tyler Smith is eligible for an extension and will likely and derserve the Top Pay for OL, $21 avg.
It is hard to remember a team paying so many players the Top Pay of their positions and the team has not had any success.
Most teams that pay player like this because those players helped them achieve great success.
We have these "Top Players" but given the lack of depth on the team, all this money will be for naught because having such financial commitments will prevent the team from bringing in additional talent to give the team a chance at capitalizing on having these Top Players.
So we will pay all of them and like many other of our past Top Players since the late 90's, they will likely not achieve anything of significance.
Both by GM Jethro's choosing.

Dak's # for 2025 accounts for 32% of our cap. There is 0 chance they leave that number as is unless they want to blow everything up.

Parsons currently salary of 24 million will drop when a new deal is reached.

Lamb accounts for 13% in 2025 and will most likely be adjusted.

We also should have carried over 20 million from 2024 and I'm not sure that is reflected in the current numbers.

Im aware we can. I'm saying that we dont have this "plenty of cap space", especially based on this $100m being banded about without any consideration for how this effects on subsequent years (eg - 100m restructure will put us leave less than $50m in 2026, with Micah, Bland, Tyler, Ferguson, Tolbert, Sam contracts to add)
Im not arguing whether or not we should restructure some, indeed the -7m calculation is an Effective CAP, which is based on completing the rest of the roster with League Minimum contracts. What im arguing is that with the turnover in numbers WE ARENT CAP RICH....especially when (even if we restructure to $100m), there are nearly 20 teams with more available CAP (a lot of which offer a more appealing destination in the way of short term success and with less holes meaning potentially higher contract).

Thats why a full reboot is necessary every so often. Acquire as many picks as possible via trade of top players.
Hope you hit it right in 2-3 straight drafts and sprinkle in some vet FA's while you have a young roster playing on team friendly deals.
Not signing Dak would have been the first step to making this happen. He will never ever be worth $60 million to this team.
But Jerry caved and now this team is stuck in futility.
If Dak's surgery fixing his torn hamstring from the bone holds up, Dak will be fine. I hope there is a clause in his contract for cutting him in case that hamstring gets torn off again and Dak is unable to play once again due to reinjury.

Things start to get better in 2026.

cap wise.

if a certain QB gets a June 1 cut.

they can exit Daks contract in 2026 or 2027.

It would not be good for the team.

injury gtd.

We are not that bad.

we just need the offense working again.

Mingo and Lance?

young players with tons of talent.

not wasted.
IF they are REALLY "talented"....why 9ers give up? a 24 y.o player?
mingo talented??? maybe! but not in Dallas ...why Carolina give up?
"Talented" is wayyyyy different meaning when players play in Cowboys uniforn
the REAL talented players, demonstrate their talent ON THE FIELD
