Cowboys are in the worst position financially and personnel wise I can remember

The Cowboys are in a horrible state where they are and will be paying several players Top Pay but the team has not and will not achieved any success.
Currently we are paying the Top QB salary, $60 avg to Dak.
2nd highest WR to Cee Dee ($34).
We will be paying Micah the Top DE salary, $35-40 avg.
We will need to resign Aubree who will likely demand and deserve the Top Pay for Kicker, $7 avg.
Tyler Smith is eligible for an extension and will likely and derserve the Top Pay for OL, $21 avg.
It is hard to remember a team paying so many players the Top Pay of their positions and the team has not had any success.
Most teams that pay player like this because those players helped them achieve great success.
We have these "Top Players" but given the lack of depth on the team, all this money will be for naught because having such financial commitments will prevent the team from bringing in additional talent to give the team a chance at capitalizing on having these Top Players.
So we will pay all of them and like many other of our past Top Players since the late 90's, they will likely not achieve anything of significance.
Just take a look at the Chiefs or Eagles.

Both teams pay plenty of players very well and still manage.

Well like one poster stated before.... the salary cap is not our real problem. Our management is. What happened or what kind of success did we have when we had PLENTY of cap space???

We still didn't advance through the playoffs. So I don't understand why people are crying about what our top salaried players are making. When the cap space was plentiful, we did absolutely nothing with it.

In reality it's quite the opposite, it's the best financial situation I can ever remember us being in. The salary cap has been reset for the first time since we had it in 30 years. We never had this kind of money 100M etc.
Staying quiet in FA has led us to both situations, sucking and having an insane amount of money in the cap if they want.

It means nothing if we don't improve the team through early FA, trades and the draft. Let's see what happens

The salary cap is an excuse and not a huge problem for Dallas. It can easily be manipulated. Dallas chooses not to do it.

The Cowboys definitely have a problem. If Jerry had gone all in for a couple of years and it resulted in a SB, we would probably understand that the bill has come due and we have to pay it. But we are in this position never having gotten to a NFCC game.

I think every team faces the same challenges. If you draft well, eventually you will have to pay these players. This is the downside of over-hyping your own guys. Some teams don't fall in love with their guys. They are willing to let them go when their rookie deals are up, and they plan for that. Identifying those players you can let go after 4 or 5 years is the talent the GM has to possess.

Jerry seems to think paying his guys top dollar is a good reflection on him. He is currently bragging about paying Dak $60 million as if this is evidence he is trying to build a great team. He does not see Dak's contract as an anchor that is dragging his team down.

we are no different than any other team in the NFL. we are just not good in putting the right team together and managing the cap. Philly top 6 contracts is 171M. cowboys 163M.... and they have players coming up for new contracts. they also went out and signed FAs at top dollars. Detroit, very similar. and Rams have done it in the past.... our GM sucks. end of story.

As Ice Tea would say in those insurance warranty commercials, “it didn’t have to be this way”.

We have more to worry about than financials. Let me show you a recent Jerry Jones quote.

"The decisions I made last year were based on competing now. Now, they didn't exactly work out. But I think I paid Dak [Prescott] more than anybody's ever been paid in the NFL. That's now. That's not the future,"

Did anything Jerry Jones do last year give you the impression it was with competing now in mind? Anything? Yet he thinks that's what he's doing.

We've been worse. Imo.

It’s not the roster. It’s the worst because Jerry is a full on villain at this point. He is old and grouchy and hates the fans because we don’t lap up his milk bowl of lies anymore. Good will of the great teams of the past is gone. They couldn’t even get guys to interview for the HC job here.

Oh come on, you cut Zeke and you add 2 backs from the best running back draft class maybe ever.
who is you rambo ?? Some mystic being?
I cant do anything, you cant , fans cant, so it is up to jones boys, and shotty.
and we cant know what they will do, only speculate.

I prefer not to think about it, as it is a waste of time, I just wait till the draft and see who they pick.
We already know now there will be no FA moves.

One thing for sure. They will be better at running back.
again your assuming, and you dont know till they actually do something!
Just because it makes sense, doesnt mean jones boys will do it, usually it is the opposite.

Let me ask you this, why did they bring elliot back and make him the starter last year !
Did that make sense? Did you approve of that?

It's absolutely obvious that they will draft a running back. It doesn't matter what they did last year. Everybody knows they are drafting a running back. They brought Zeke back because they were stupid.

No Mountain West Conference running back is going to walk into the NFL and be even an average NFL running back as a rookie. Particularly behind the Cowboys’ offensive line.
what school did Walter Payton go to?
