Does he replace Wilcox or Church?

Both, possibly. Wilcox still is a work in progress and Church's injury is no sure thing.

Liking the idea of taking Jalen Ramsey at 4 to play safety even more.

However, keep an eye on Darian Thompson, S, Boise State from the Senior Bowl. LOVE the way he plays. Perfect complement to Jones' skillset, IMO.

Come on down, Woodson and Williams...Jones and Ramsey.

I think we can improve with a veteran free agent CB and a pair of stud DTs in the draft. Help up front and Byron prowling the backfield can improve the secondary and overall defense.

Darian Thompson can play! Gambles a bit much but makes plays.

As far as Jalen Ramsey, I think he is going to be an Eric Berry or Earl Thomas type if Safety is the position he plays. If the evaluators say two QB's or more in this draft are "Franchise" guys, then you take the QB. But, if they see those guys as projects who would be low 1st round guys or without 1st round grades...I take Ramsey and don't look back. He is a baller...plain and simple. Whether he is a "shutdown corner"...I don't know but at Safety...he will be special IMHO.

Edit: Since this is a thread about Byron Jones playing safety let me mention that I am happy that they will let him settle there...his best position IMO.

Agreed on all accounts.

I like Byron, he's a smart player who's active on the field. He's got to improve his tackling if he's moving to safety.

I see him as a good tackler, but not a big hitter. I think once he grows into his body, the big hits will come.

I didn't really see anything either way that screamed FS to me.

He could also fill a huge hole at CB and we could buy a proven FS like Weddle or Gipson.

The money saved on Carr and Church is over 13m.

That could pay for Weddle, Fairley and Trevathan

They already started using him in that role and had to move him to corner at the tail end due to injuries.
