The QB needs help. A lot of it.
We did help him. We got a no. 2 CB that can get the ball back to offense helping leverage the INTs that the Dallas QB will throw trying to force the ball to a 5th string WR ( even though he signed in Houston lol).

Without Emmitt he never won a game.
I didn’t think this could be right, but it’s actually true.

Aikman was 0-13 in games that he started, and Emmitt Smith didn’t suit up for.

Now, 11 of those were the 89 disaster before Emmitt was here… and Troy did win Emmitts first game when Emmitt only had two carries.

Part of this was the fact that Emmitt only missed five games during the time they were both here, and Troy missed three of those himself. The two Troy played without him and lost were during Emmitt holdout.

But yeah…true statement….Troy Aikman never won an NFL game without Emmitt Smith.

What we need desperately at this point is a stud DT to solidify our run-plugging and allow our LBs to be more effective.

We'd best get one. Pretty please and thank you. It's high time for Will McClay, Jerry and Stephen to attend this for us. ;)

I get Wilson and LVE, but Gilmore is an upgrade over Brown.
Marginal upgrade I agree with. So really what have we done to address our biggest concerns on defense? Run game, DT, MLB?

So far, not much. Seems we do the same thing every year and expect difference results.

Niners got run over by the Eagles in the championship game so what was the first thing they did? They made a strength stronger by signing Hargrave. That is a move of a team with purpose and understanding where they need to improve.

Love Aikman, but he couldnt do squat without a great run game and a great Oline. And lets not forget those 90's defense were either #1 or top 5 most of the time.

They essentially asked Aikman to drive the bus. Hand the ball off to Emmitt and then perform play action passes to wide open guys like Irvin and Novacek. Not a bad wrap.

And who can forget Jimmy and that amazing coaching staff?

I’m an Aikman fan (of the player), but it wasn’t really about him.

I’m just a little surprised that the statement that he has never won an NFL game that Emmitt Smith didn’t suit up for is actually a true. I wouldn’t have thought that to be the case.

Relax. We added a 32 year old cornerback and lost our quasi starter LG.
I think guard is very likely to get filled in the draft. The odds of a impactful WR and guard in the draft is slim so I’d try to fill one of them in FA. I think they’d like OBJ but he has to come back to reality first. He’s not a 20 mil player

What? That Gilmore is a top 10 CB in the league?
He is good
Top 10? Probably not but he had a really good season last year and I think he has another one in him. I also think he can help a guy like bland because he’s an extremely smart player

As was the case for most QBs from the '80's and '90's. The only guy who really performed during that era without a running game was Marino, and he never won anything.

Exactly. Like most other qbs. Aikman just had the best team around him.

With Gilmore on board:

1) Sign Wagner

2) Draft Bijon

3) Draft Board: TOP WR, TE, or DT Rd 2

4) Repeat above for need Rds 3 and 4

5) WIN SB.
We NEED #1 to happen!
This would be our Charles Haley move.

It would be AMAZING if we could find a way to get Wagner and a stud DT( draft, FA, or trade ).

I was speaking more to the playstyle of the era. They weren't running spread offenses and the West Coast game was still being developed. There's a reason RBs were more coveted back then than they are now. The game has changed.
