You are not hearing what I'm saying. I agree with the decision to part ways with Mo, I agree he was too injury prone. However, that 5 game stretch 2 years ago proves he had talent and "got it" 2 years ago but then he was injured again. He wasn't worth a damn trying to play injured or not being able to play at all. There is no way for the scouts to predict his injury prone nature so you can not put the blame on them.

I'm talking about DLaw having a 5 game stretch not mo. Mo didn't even look good in his highlight videos. Imo

Mo was coveted league wide as a top talent coming into the draft, so don't even play that. Your hindsight is 20/20 now that he's gone.

Never saw it really until the beginning of this last season. All I saw was a ton of holding by him in the gb game. Brown has been more impressive than mo. Just glad he's gone now. Just wish they didn't blow the 4 picks on mo and DLaw but it happens a lot with the defense players Dallas seems to get.

Mo was holding because he was playing hurt. I really don't think we disagree much on Mo. He was a bust, he was injury prone and we are glad he's gone. DLaw however, can redeem himself this coming season, IMO.

That where we differ I guess. No way I pay DLaw big money. He's been I juiced a lot. 2 of them back surgeries and hasn't really done anything. Besides a few games 2 years ago. He'd have to have a great injury free season to even think about signing him for a cheap 1 year prove it deal.

I wouldn't pay DLaw big money either. If he can find a bigger pay day somewhere else then we let him walk. If he has the great injury free season you speak of then the 1 year signing for cheap is exactly what I would give him too. If he can prove he can string together good seasons then I might reconsider his big pay day.

Oh i thought you were saying if he did good this year it warranted a contract like a regular de.

Nope, just saying I'm not ready to move on from him yet. He's been disappointing no doubt but I'm willing to hang with the young man just a little longer.

Might be hard with the way teams just paid the guys we let leave though lol still can't believe the contracts those guys got. Church I can see a bit but the others no way.

If this is true, it's a telling indictment against the coaching of Jason Garrett (we know about all the other coaches).

We need to continue drafting well because we're going to need a superior talented team across the board to overcome our big-game coaching deficiencies.

The Tuna is way over rated as an evaluator of talent. It was he and Jerry Jones that got in a drunken stupor together before the 2004 draft and ended up drafting Julius Jones over Steven Jackson. How both of these lushes are in the Hall of Fame is beyond my understanding.
Parcells took a team that went 5-11ish three straight years to the playoffs with Quincy Carter as his starting QB. That alone should get him in the HOF.

It was a nice feel good piece. I really don't like a lot of our recent ( last 5 years) picks on defense

Agreed, but our defensive picks from last year look good so far. Even if Smith were to never play.

According to this article, the Cowboys and Patriots are tied for tops in the NFL at drafting since 2000. The most pro bowlers ect...

http://www.bloggingtheboys.com/2017...ots-for-the-most-successful-drafts-since-2000

Ps. I dont necessarily agree that we are the best but it was interesting. Don't shoot the messenger.

Not shooting the messenger (Locus), but the criteria the article's author used to determine "best at drafting" is laughable (but par for the course from bloggingtheboys). Looking at total number of Pro Bowls/All Pro selections made is simply idiotic. All you need is one player like D. Ware or Tom Brady to skew the numbers.

At the very least they should be looking at number of different players that have made a Pro Bowl or All Pro selection that were drafted by that team since 2000 (or whatever arbitrary year).

This same type of article has been posted before this specific one and IIRC the other one was from a national publication and not a cowboys specific fan site.

I know people hate to see it or hate to believe it...but there is validity to the main gist of the article.

They didn't take Jones over Jackson. Jackson was not on the board when the Jones pick was made. They took an additional draft choice (Which I believe allowed them to pick Ware because they could pick Spears later than they otherwise would have) over Jackson.

They had he option of taking Stephen Jackson and decided not to.
Someone who was a mod at one time was at Valley Ranch during that draft.
The Tuna did not want to deal with Jackon's Agents (postons) and did not like Jackson Up right running style.

So they made a trade and took the trade offer from the Bills to trade down. Jackson WAS on the board at that time. The bills traded up to take JP Losman.
We took Jones in the second round.
