1) When Mike McCarthy says he wants to run the ball more and wants their identity to be defense he's actually saying he doesn't trust Dak Prescott.

2) Jalen Tolbert and Kelvin Joseph should both be on the bubble heading into training camp.

3) Barring injury Chuma Edoga will be the starting LG in week 1.

4) The defense needs Leighton Vander Esch just as much as it used to need Sean Lee.

5) Sam Williams will have more sacks in 2023 than DeMarcus Lawrence.
1 sell it means he doesn't trust the WRs. If they pull that crap this year it wouldn't surprise me to see Jalen Brooks on the field at least he fights for the ball.
2 sell buy Joseph not tolbert
3 sell Tyler Smith
4 sell they need him but he's not Sean Lee Looking for a big jump with Damone Clark this year.
5 buy looking for double digits from Samuel this year.

1. Buy, how could anyone trust Dak?
2. Buy, Joseph is the worst draft pick of the last 4 years.
3. Sell, they'll move Tyler Smith there until Tyron's inevitable injury.
4. Buy, he was one of the better players on the team last year and we have little behind him.
5. Buy, Lawrence is near the end.
well done, brother……agree with you 100

Let's play their game of buy or sell. I'll post the statements they make in the video and you tell me if you buy or sell it.

One note: At 7:10 of the video Jane says T.Y. Hilton wants to return to Dallas.

On to the buy or sell....

TY Hilton.. buy

1. Sell. The run and pass need to compliment each other. Neither one is winning without the other.

2. Sell. Tolbert should get more time. Joseph is in a deeper situation and could certainly be on the bubble. Tolbert does have to show flashes though.

3. Sell. If they’re going to pencil anyone in 5 months before the season I don’t see Edoga as the favorite in that situation.

4. Sell. He’s playing well but this is a classic Cowboys overvalue. Lee was very much needed. That defensive unit as a whole just wasn’t even close to what’s here now.

5. Buy. I don’t see this as an impossibility that’s for sure.

1. BUY. It means the team will not build off deep passing. Lots of short to intermediate throws hoping for YAC. 12 personnel with tons of running plays and the occasional pass to the flat or seam to the tight end. Best thing to do with Dak is to give him less chances to give the ball to the other team.

2. BUY-Kelvin should have been cut after that ridiculous stunt last offseason. He should not have been drafted by the Cowboys (in any round). SELL- Tolbert gets at least one more season to prove he belongs.

3. SELL- pending injury to other lineman.

4. SELL-completely different dynamic with their relative importance to the defenses they played on.

5. BUY-depends on how they give him snaps. DLaw makes a lot of cash to give up lots of playing time.

1) Sell 2 reasons- a: they ran the ball plenty last year, its more about how they run the ball...we are not turning into the Ravens b: MM will attack a defenses weakness it will change from weak to weak but it will be more effecient which is what any Offense is looking for.
2) hold - both could be replaced easily if another player comes in and shines but they also both have potential to grow as they are both very young
3) Sell- barring injury i think Tyler is your LG as they will put the best 5 on the field.
4) Sell- LVE had a great season but this defense has other options that can hold the fort...Sean Lee many times was all that was keeping the damn from breaking.
5) buy- this kid showed huge flashes last year and nothing about the current staff makes me believe that players are not getting better.. Williams will get better.

The organization has lost some confidence in Dak just like the fans have. He didn’t play very well in the playoffs against San Francisco in 2021 and was terrible this past season in the playoffs against them. He led the league in INT’s this past season despite missing five games. The team doesn’t want to depend too much on him but if he’s unable to come through in critical situations and in big games we’re not going to get very far. Once you get to the postseason it comes down to your QB having to make plays. You’re not going to build a great team trying to run the ball all day to protect your QB. The NFL is a passing league and you score points with the passing game. We weren’t scoring a lot of points when Cooper Rush was in the lineup because we didn’t have much of a passing game. When Dak returned we became the highest scoring team in the league but his INT’s became a problem and it caught up with us against a great defense in the playoffs.

I think it will be interesting to see that our Run/pass numbers will not be far off from what we did last year... the way it works however will be a major change, "See we took the ball out of Daks hands more and look what happened!!!" with "Actually we had almost the exact same mix with much better results is the fact." comming to light.

The most successful season the Cowboys have had under Dak was in 2016 when we had a great running game and he didn’t have to throw the ball a lot. However, I don’t think you’re going to get very far in the playoffs with that type of offense unless you have a great defense and can consistently run the ball. Our defense faltered against Green Bay in the playoffs and it forced Dak to have to air it out more than he had all season. He only won one game in 2016 where he attempted more than 38 passes. He played well against Green Bay but it wasn’t enough because our defense broke down. It almost always comes down to your QB having to throw the ball to win in the playoffs. KC won the Super Bowl on the arm of Mahomes. Your QB has to come through in postseason. It’s hard to get through the playoffs without a strong passing attack.

the fact is we were 6th in rushing attempts last year and not far off anyone not named Chicago...we are not about to rush the ball "Way more" what will change is how we attack defenses with the run game.. but 100% agree with you in the playoffs QB gotta makes plays being able to run the ball helps that alot just like any other QB ever...

Everyone keeps talking about running the ball more, but we ran the ball more last season than we had since the 94 season. We don’t need to run the ball more, we need to run the ball better but our passing game has to get more efficient. A lot of games get put on the QB in the playoffs. Once Brock Purdy went out San Francisco was done against Philly. In the Super Bowl Philly had the lead until Mahomes took over in the second half. There’s a reason QBs are so coveted and are getting paid so much money. In the most critical games it comes down to them.

Yes and I'm sure you are the same as I am, I would take Mahomes right now..lol. Fact is KM's run scheme seemed forced and with no cohesion to the pass game, we dont need to run the ball more we need to attack the defenses weakness with both and make them cover the weakness to open other areas of the field.

1. Buy- not so much he doesn't trust Dak but that he would prefer Dak drive the bus.
2. Buy- couple of disappointments.
3. Sell- Edoga is not a starter
4. Buy- defense was better last year when he was in. Not as good as Sean but he has been improving.
5. Buy- Sam showed flashes if he stays healthy could be a force.

1) When Mike McCarthy says he wants to run the ball more and wants their identity to be defense he's actually saying he doesn't trust Dak Prescott.

Sell - I agree with Jane's take.

2) Jalen Tolbert and Kelvin Joseph should both be on the bubble heading into training camp.

Sell - Joseph I'm pretty low on right now but at the very least he contributes on special teams. Tolbert is in his second season and hasn't gotten a legitimate chance. Let's revisit him after this year.

3) Barring injury Chuma Edoga will be the starting LG in week 1.

Sell - We're starting the best 5 and that doesn't include Edoga. But hopefully he provides some value.

4) The defense needs Leighton Vander Esch just as much as it used to need Sean Lee.

Sell - Last year he was very important as a run stopper but with us bringing in Mazi Smith and bringing back Hankins who missed games after we got him I expect some the LBs to elevate their game as a result.

5) Sam Williams will have more sacks in 2023 than DeMarcus Lawrence.

Sell - He absolutely could but I just feel like Tank will be on the field more often than he will. More guys to rotate with Williams. But I certainly hope he does.

1. Buy - Dak threw 15 INTS in 12 games last year. MM wants to cut down on turnovers.

2. Buy - Its bad morale for the team when guys are gifted roster spots based on their draft positions. Our FO has been slow historically admitting error and moving on from a player.

3. Sell - No chance unless someone named Smith is injured.

4. Buy - He is not as good as Sean Lee but we are paper thin at LB and can't afford to lose him

5. Buy - DLAW is wrapping it up. He is mostly a run defender now.

I'd love to see the Cowboys win another SB, but as my eventual mortality inches ever closer I'm kind of done with making excuses for players who fall short.
I'll be 42 tomorrow. God willing, I'll be here another 40 years. I've accepted the fact I probably won't see another SB win.
