That's why I was fine with the Cooper trade, since he was only 24. But we only got 3 1/2 years out of that first round pick.
That happened because he was already two seasons closer to free agency than a draftee.

That’s the trade off is for knowing the player isn’t a bust.

Cooper was jettisoned because his agent allowed a contract with an easy team out after two years….about the very opposite of the Elliott deal.

I want DHOP. Jeudy has injury history. DH just makes financial sense as well because hes elite still.
You’re probably only getting two seasons out of either, albeit for very different reasons….and one appears to be much more expensive than the other.

This assumes they want to keep Lamb long term.

I like Hopkins and always did. Think he has something left, but I can’t go giving up big time draft capital for him, since that’s the only resource the team uses to acquire players. It’s flawed and frustrating, but true.

Why wouldn’t the Cowboys want to keep an All-Pro 23 year old wideout that gets better every season. Some Cowboys fans   .

On jeudy I’m not sure it’s a matter of cowboys fans not “wanting” to keep him…it’s a matter of can they and field a team with so much money allocated long term to the wr position….I know the answer with the nfl cap is they can but should they?

At least with Hopkins - it’s a 2 year bridge and you can draft his replacement and still have 2 or 3 years left on the rookie deal. If jeudy comes here and balls out- he’s gonna want a huge massive deal just like lamb.

You aren’t getting a better player at 26. Comparing him to lamb makes zero sense.

Get rid of Gallup after this year and sign Jeudy to an extension.
What makes zero sense in paying him $20M per AND giving a 1st round pick? Not to mention the same year we have to pay Lamb $25-30M.
Hard no........

67 catches for 970 yards, with a 110 QB rating while targeted in what was essentially a broken offense

You mean Lamb? I would figure they would and I’m not saying to move on from him, but realistically, since Lamb and Jeudy are in the same draft class, they are up for their second deal at the same time, so they would probably have to choose between the two, even if they cut Gallup. That day isn’t far enough off to make it worth parting with big time draft capital for.

They need either a rookie or a guy that has maybe two good seasons left….such as OBJ (although I’d prefer not to on him) or Hopkins.

I don’t think the overall need is as dire as some want to make it, especially if you take MMs intentions as true.

I hear you. If some how Lamb and Juedy performed like Duper and Clayton for Miami back in the day the Cowboys would move on from Pollard and Gallup. Then again I can’t see Juedy being special. He has never been before.

He’s not getting 20 and a 1st is speculative. Might be able to get him for less. He’s way better than anyone at 26 anyways.

Jeudy is a very good WR. Lamb is better, but Jeudy is good. Very similar type WR's in my opinion. Not a speed guy, but gets open like Lamb. Not the ideal guy to have next to Lamb. The problem is its a 2 year rental and then this guy is going to want 25 million per year around the same time Lamb does so its a waste of a trade.

People in here are clueless …what’s new?
So you want to trade a first round pick for a guy that your going to have to pay 25 million to in a year? Around the same time your going to have to do it for Lamb? Doesnt make any sense.

That would a desperate Jerry Jones move and a bad one. With Gallup likely to step it back up what this team needs is either a quality pass catching TE or a speedy #3 WR. No need to make a big trade or use first round pick on that.

Ok so what does he get 20? Still too much.

Ive watched you over the years here and EVERY year you want to spend a first round pick you want a WR. Do you think football is about the WR position? EVERY YEAR!!

We had Lamb, Cooper, Gallup and Shultz for 3 years and what did that do for us? We got further last year with less at the WR position.
