Dunbar better show no ill effects once he returns. The depth at running back will make it hard for them to wait around if he needs time to pick up where he left off.

It will be interesting to see Morris vs McFadden in camp. McFadden has more burst but I think Morris style fits this team better. He will not break long runs but he consistently turns 2 yard runs into 4 yard runs, etc by breaking at tackle and following forward. This is what made Demarco Murray so good in 2014. McFadden just doesn't break enough tackles or get those extra yards enough for me. As a backup, that may be fine. I just did not think you could have a starter like that though.

I don't want them to overuse Morris.

7 - 10 tops per game.

Old running back legs tire quicker during the season.

Morris isn't exactly old, even for a RB.

And some guys are just have better stamina and are more durable. Morris definitely strikes me as that kind of player.

I'd like to know how many downs we used a FB last year. I'm guessing not that much and I feel it's an outdated wasted roster spot. Someone else should be capable of filling the role for the limited amount of time they are used without dedicating a roster spot to a player I would argue have very little impact.

4 backs, no wasted FB spot:

Elliott, Morris, Dunbar, Jackson (if Jackson cannot run deep routes like Dunbar)

Elliot, Morris, McFadden, Jackson (if Jackson can do everything Dunbar can)

I'm thinking TC will go a long way towards establishing what the staff is likely to do with both Jackson and Dunbar. Jackson bears the advantage of size to accompany his speed, while Dunbar has had some success, although it's been negated by persistent injuries.

A roster spot is likely to give way to make room for one RB deemed preferable to another. It's simply a matter of who and when. Barring further injuries, I think it might likely be between Dunbar and McFadden to be the one to get cut or traded. No doubt, the FO has their own ideas, though.

Jackson can do everything Dunbar can......but stay healthy even so I think I would still want Dunbar over McFadden. He doesn't seem to fit our zone blocking scheme like the other backs on the roster plus McFadden is also the oldest

Romo is injury prone too. Cut him also.
If there was a better option, I would be all for it. There is not a better option and the entire offense is Romo-dependent, so no. Horrible comparison.

So who would we use at FB? Morris or a TE?

Word is Alfred Morris looks faster and did some great work on the goal line drills. Great pickup for the Cowboys. Might be one of the best underrated signings. Hope he gets his carries.

The way the Cowboys managed the RBs is the opposite of how they addressed the qb group

Yes it is, hopefully that means we are going to be running the hell out of the ball.

Dunbar was pretty dynamic catching the ball out of the back field at the start of last season, it seems like there would be more value in that than a FB. Teams are putting a bigger emphasis on guys who can fill that role, guys like Sproles, Woodhead, Dion Lewis, etc.

I was asking who would they use in that situation if we drop that position to add another player that can fill that role when need be and also contribute in another way?

They can always use a TE or another RB, but keep in mind that Elliot ran without a FB in college. I suppose they might prefer one in short-yardage or goal line situations from time to time. .

Good point can't argue with that

And we all know rb is where you should have your deepest talent pool.

But at the end of season he has nothing in the tank.

Says who and what season? His lack of production wasn't because of himself. Our O pass blocks much better than it was run blocking. Cowboys are the complete opposite. Besides being in the read option with RG3 he is best fit for your team strengths.
