I really don't see a big need to keep any of them, Osama had a good year but not great and probably will not have another one like it, so pass
Lewis resign like last year, the rest are JAGs and should be replaced in draft..
There are more holes than draft picks.

It would be nice.

but…

the cap is tight. 20M free.

the Parsons extension should free up 15M for 2025 though.

Restructure CDs contract. Another 15M.

that would give them 50M.

have to sign Turpin and Lance. Maybe Hoffman.

there goes 15M.

need 15M for the draft.

then keep another 20M for the 2025 season.

we are cap broke.

Dak just keeps on giving doesn’t he?

LOL Stephen talks about things being tight, never mentions it's because of his awful decisions. They pay Gallup a mint, he might as well have retired the next day. Gallup cost us $9M in cap space next year. $18M for jag Terence Steele. Worst of all is the $ left over from Dak's previous contract, and $30M in old charges for all the extra money the fools gave a washed up Zack Martin.

The Cowboys need to be more aggressive in FA, but giving Osa would be just another big mistake. He's a good player, but some team is going to pay him like he's JT Watt, when he's not. A couple years from now, he'd be just another noose around our salary cap neck.

We can bash Guyton, Mazi, etc, but fact is, if guys like them don't pan out, 12-5 playoff blowout Mike McCarthy years will look like our salad days.
Damn good post.

I’d add that if a player like Osa was on another team, they wouldn’t consider him in the slightest. It’s just a ridiculously run operation, and they desperately need someone to come in and handle all of football operations. These two are never going to get it right. In way over their heads but they can’t at all comprehend how another human could be better than them at anything. It’ll take a few 4-6 win seasons, and they are coming. Stay healthy.

Good post.

Sadly, Stephen and Jerry keep killing us paying the wrong guys early and then dragging out players like Lamb, most likely Parsons.

It doesn't help our draft success hasn't been as good the last few drafts.

Cowboys cannot let these players walk out of The Star this offseason

Here we are another football season over, and the Dallas Cowboys are once again going to hit with a bunch of pending free agents that they need to make sure they resign, or at least attempt to keep in the building.

They have multiple players whose contracts are expiring. These players include defensive tackle Osa Odighizuwa, cornerback Jourdan Lewis, defensive end Chauncey Golston, and running back Rico Dowdle.

If they learned anything from last season, the Cowboys need to try and get as many of these players to stay at the Star as possible. Dan Quinn took half the roster with him and made the NFC title game, who knows what will happen if they let a few of these guys walk again.
  • Osa Odighizuwa
  • Rico Dowdle
  • Jourdan Lewis

I agree with all three of these players . Need to keep them as long as OSA doesn’t go nuts with demands

He’ll just take the highest offer. It’s not like he picks how much he’s paid. He isn’t going to give any of the 32 teams in the league a discount on his services. You mean as long as no other team goes nuts with an offer.

You’re right but if Jerry offers say 25 over two yrs and the agent comes back wants 36 then he’s pricing himself out .

DeMarcus Lawrence will become an unrestricted free agent once the 2024 season has ended. Should the Cowboys try to keep him since Osa might leave elsewhere for a bigger contract?

What about Zack Martin? He is still under contract for 2025, becoming an unrestricted free agent in 2026. Zack Martin will only be a $10.6 million cap hit for 2025. Should the Cowboys keep him for 2025 or cut him?

Perhaps his agent has done his job and has ascertained the most his client can expect to be offered. Asking for an absurd amount of money is the agent wasting his and the team’s time. Jerry Jones needs to consider what Osa is worth to the Cowboys and make that his offer. If another team offers a more attractive deal and Osa moves on that’s the business.

The decision on Martin won't have anything to do with his salary cap hit.

Either he can still play or he can't. That simple.

My position with # 97 is cost . Nice to bring back but can you fill several FA holes for what he will command. Dan Quinn probably makes a hard run at him perhaps the Giants .

The Cowboys have little on the way of CB I say go after DJ Reed Jets CB FA have $ left over for another FA and draft DT help on a rookie contract . Dowdle & Jourdan Lewis affordable OSA very expensive

They can and should let Dowdle go unless they get a really good deal

Draft a running back to go with Dowdle . 1079 yards mostly between the tackles plus pass catching ability satisfies me , I would like a two headed rushing attack and not draft 2 RB’s or buy another RB .

Detroit showed the beauty of pounding 2 backs that opens up Goff passing .

Age & Injury plus roster replacements prevent my interest In either Lawrence or Martin . Hoffman is a starter right now at G leave Beebe at C and Kneeland when healthy last year was drafted with Lawrence in mind . Sam Williams is in his last rookie yr prove contract he will finally bust out he wants $$$ in 2026 . Plus Lawson needs to be resigned .
