On their draft review show Youmans mentioned the Cowboys see something in Mazi's pre-snap stance that can be tweaked to improve the pass rush.

For whatever that's worth.
Like watch the ball? Oh these Cowboy scouts...are good. Lol

They mentioned that they had both players in for a 30 visit, and mentioned Guard. Torrence was not a 30 visit, so they had to be talking about Avila.

The fact that they didn't draft Torrence in the 2nd round says a lot of what they think about Torrence. Fans need to give that fact due consideration. They obviously thought much more highly of Avila than Torrence, and given their respective draft positions, the Cowboys were not alone in believing Avila was a much better prospect than Torrence.
Then they didn't actually say "Avila". You're just deducting that it was him???

I like the Mazi pick, but I would have gone Torrence in 2nd round. Apparently McClay and staff didn’t think he was right fit or something.
The issue with Torrance is his feet. He’s slow and plodding on tape but super strong. The hope is he can lose a little wait and gain a step or two without losing power.

So if our scouts and coaches did not feel like he could move the way they need a G to move then naturally they wouldn’t have him as high on their board as some of us may have had.

Keep in mind many thought he was a round 1 guy and he fell to the last few spots of round 2. I do believe fans had him ranked higher than scouts and we all wanted a power LG so a lot were more invested in Torrance than maybe they should have been.

Yeah Michigan had him in a terribly high 4 point stance and wanted him to do one thing and one thing only in clog up the middle.

Could be a case of significant growth on the NFL level with proper coaching. Obviously he isn’t Micah but Micah also didn’t get fully unleashed in his scheme at PSU.

Yeah, I don't think he has the feet for outside zone.

Shoot, if we want a pass rusher, I don't know why we wouldn't go Nolan Smith.

At 6'2" 238, had a better 40 time, broad, and vertical than Bijan.
Smith was the right pick. Why? They would have totally missed out on the dtackle that they needed.

That awkward moment when Bergeron completely pancakes Mazi the next time we play the Falcons.

Why don't you trust McClay?
Because he's the complete moron who thought Taco Charlton was a better option than T.J. Watt.

He's also the architect of the Osa-Golston-Wright 3rd round and putting 2nd round values on Kelvin Joseph and Trysten Hill.

There are many reasons not to trust him. He's just a better option than the two wastes of space above him.

But you trust a guy (Mel Kiper) who guaranteed that Jimmy Clausen would be a successful NFL QB?

He also strongly advocated for Brady Quinn over Megatron.

And he said that Jamarcus Russel would be similar to John Elway.

I could go on and on.....

Kiper has had numerous fails that were much more outrageous than anything that McClay has gotten wrong.

I don't trust Kiper. I just respect him. I don't have blind trust in anyone when it comes to the draft. Everybody's wrong on a regular basis.

But I would argue against McClay being better. There is no worse opinion to have than a complete stiff like Taco Charlton being better than a DPOY and probable future Hall of Famer in T.J. Watt.

I'm not impressed with McClay in general and I think the love he gets here is just the same nonsensical treatment Stephen used to get years ago as the savior in waiting. He's better than Stephen. He's better than Jerry. He's the best we have but that doesn't make him good. We've wasted a lot of picks under his watch. A lot of high picks too.

Obviously McClay didn't like Torrence as much as yourself.
Would love them to release the video of the '2 minute drill' for the second round draft?
Can't remember whether there was a debate of Torrence vrs Schoonmaker.

No problem with this draft! Only one question mark and that's why TE was taken in 2nd. I thought Ferguson was the guy to replace Schultz.
Ferguson started 8 games in 2022 as the TE2. The reality is that the Cowboys need two (2) starting TE's to run their offense. Hendershot and McKeon are not starting level, so they needed another one in addition to Ferguson.

Bergeron and Torrence were not 30 visits. They mentioned both players they were debating were 30 visits. Thus the deduction they were talking about Avila.

I don't get it. You have been screaming for a huge DT to have him sat in the middle of this defensive line to stuff the run and now you are complaining? Mazi solves a problem. In the playoffs... we could not stop the run up the middle. (SFran) Jeeeeeze. This kid is a HUGE upgrade for this run defense. Did you read Micahs's comments?

If McClay wanted him then we made the right choice. Some of these players I wondered if they were coaches choices or McClays.
