Wasted money is a mistake. Spare us any comments about 'logic' in your rush to defend the indefensible.

Someone should be fired. Where do we start?

C'mon, c'mon- I'm reading words like "colossal mistake" and "EPIC Failure" from you: someone needs to go and needs to go NOW!
Right?
This sounds like some fireable stuff.
Jerry? This is Jerry's fault? Right? What? Right?

Should we torch and pitchfork at McClay's doorstep? Stephen's?

Who man? Such wrath and fire... where should we direct it at?

And let's not even get into them not even LOOKING at Trent Richardson, am I right?

KILL!!! FIRE AND BRIMSTONE!!!

The guys at Spotrac confirmed that there was offset language, so that is good news.

If the NYG pay him the vet min of 720k Dallas will get that back against the cap this year.

His dead cap hits will be 655k this year and 625k next year.

There has been one hell of a lot of handwringing over what amounts to 1/2 of 1% of the salary cap for this year.

Here, let me help you with some basic English vocabulary.

Colossal:

1. of a bulk, extent, power, or effect approaching or suggesting the stupendous or incredible<colossal rock formations>
2. of an exceptional or astonishing degree <a colossal failure>

Two million off the cap for 1 year is not colossal. Actually, 1.25 now that the Giants have signed Brinkley.

But, hey, keep working on those vocab skills! One day, maybe :)

2 million dollars is 1.3% of this year's cap.

Looking back losing Lawrence Gibson hurts, proving that trying to be a little too cute gets you nowhere, really fast.

It is not hand wringing. It is just pointing out the truth. Guaranteeing 2m to a player that can't even make the roster is a bad mistake. It is like wasting a draft pick and people spend YEARS talking about them. If people can't or don't want to participate in the discussion they should ignore the thread but if they want to be smart alecs I will respond.

Everyone wants to talk about how fiscally responsible the FO has become while they ignore the failures. The team is in better shape cap wise because the cap went up by 20m in 2 years and they have been a lot better at drafting.

Add that 2m to 1.2m we are paying McFadden and the 1.5m we are paying Dunbar and we have DMurray.and a roster spot.

No you wouldn't.

Murray wasn't staying for 3-4 years. He wanted contract length (as well as dollars), and got it in Philly.

I really think the Boys took a good hard look at the history of RBs who carried the ball like Murray did last year and that was why they lowballed him. They believe and the numbers certainly support them in thinking he will never be as good again, and could very possibly considering his injury history, basically come apart at the seems very quickly.

That very well may have been their thinking and it might even explain why they used him so much. If Randle is so vital this year he surely could have handled a lot more carries last year. It would have lessened the load on Murray and probably would have lowered the cost since Murray wouldn't get to 1800 yds.

We have the money next year and in 2017 as well.

Just showing how 2m is not insignificant. We got the Beaser for 2m.

Let me repeat myself - signing Jasper Brinkley, no matter how ill advised it was, did not cost them DeMarco Murray. The Cowboys were not going to offer a contract that Murray would have signed in terms of years, or dollars for that matter.

1.3% of the cap is not anything to get wound up about, especially when this team had 10-20 million in dead money in recent seasons.
