You just don't understand the logic.

Losing money on stock trades would look bad if viewed individually; however if 1 guy made 30% on his money in the stock market despite losses on some trades and another guy had zero losses but made 1% keeping his money in the bank, then the guy with some losses was the winner.

Of justifying losing $2 million on a guy who'll never play a snap for you? You're right, I don't' understand the "logic".

Not even close.

Murray would have been a 3 yr/21m deal paid on the cap over 5 years.

They could push the limits and spend a lot but they likely were NOT going to sign Hardy if they had spent the money on Murray.

It wouldn't be pushing any limits. We are 8m under the cap RIGHT NOW and didn't touch Carr or Witten.

We are 40-50m under next year and only have Hardy, TCrawford as big FAs.

Here, let me help you with some basic English vocabulary.

Colossal:

1. of a bulk, extent, power, or effect approaching or suggesting the stupendous or incredible<colossal rock formations>
2. of an exceptional or astonishing degree <a colossal failure>

Two million off the cap for 1 year is not colossal. Actually, 1.25 now that the Giants have signed Brinkley.

But, hey, keep working on those vocab skills! One day, maybe :)

First off Columbo, I said colossal not stasheroo

and wasting 2m on ZERO games is an astonishing waste of limited resources.

Good thing it is not indicative of the FO in general

Not many of us are trying to 'justify' it....it's just the way the business goes at times. All teams go through it. Stop whining and move on man. You're like an old dog laying on a rusty nail.

Opinions vary. I consider $1 million to be a lot of money to burn, much less $2 million. And my urge to cover for my favorite team does not force that to change.

But hey, if the blinders work for you, have at it!

I likely would if the SuperFans would stop trying to tell me that wasting $2 million is somehow "no biggie".

Did I not tell you the SuperFans would come out?

Like a pack of wolves when you say anything uncomplimentary of 'their team'. They can't bear it!

$1.25M for sure, that was the signing bonus.

The $750K that is guaranteed as part of his base salary isn't for sure.

If another team signs Jasper Brinkley, Dallas will only owe the difference between what they pay (vet minimum for him looks like $720K) and the $750K owed.

That's good !!!

It's funny, you're the first person to bring ip maturity and the last person to show any himself.

Do yourself a favor and take a break from defending your team's every move and use this great resource in front of you called the Internet. Go do your homework, find out the actual facts around Brinkley's cost, and then 'man up' and come back and tell all of us how wrong you were.

Show some 'maturity' yourself for once.

Exactly.

DMurray's cap hit would be 4m this year.

The wasted 2m on Brinkley would cover 1/2 of that and DMC's 1.2m would almost cover the other half.

For a few pre-season games that is terrible.

The guys at Spotrac confirmed that there was offset language, so that is good news.

If the NYG pay him the vet min of 720k Dallas will get that back against the cap this year.

His dead cap hits will be 655k this year and 625k next year.

I don't see the big deal. They signed a guy they envisioned needing at MLB but another free agent signing and a middle round draft pick made him expendable. In the past, he would have been kept at the expense of a good young player like Bishop, Coleman, or Whitehead simply because he had guaranteed money. Now it seems they keep the best 53 no matter what and we all should be happy about that.
