it's easy to sit and point the finger after the fact
It gives some people a sense of accomplishment to point out mistakes after the fact.

Look up 'return on investment'.
And learn that 0 is not a number you want to have there.
My 'argument' is that your grasping at straws to justify this blunder is an EPIC FAILURE!
Money wasted on Brinkley never playing a snap has nothing to do with Murray getting hurt in Philadelphia!
One has nothing to do with the other no matter how hard you wish for it to be so.
Hey look, Brinkley signed with the Giants, meaning his cap hit will be trivial. Still think his signing was an "EPIC FAILURE?"
If by 'trivial', you mean $1.25 million. But hey, it's better than nothing, right?
WRONG. The $1.25 million is offset by the amount the Giants are paying him (at least 720k). Thanks for playing though!
Yeah, you keep going on with that!
I keep "going with it" because I'm right.
Yeah "colossal". $2 million in cap space down the drain is a big deal. In case the mathematicians around here were unaware, it doesn't matter how rich Jerry Jones is. The cap is the same for everyone, even the broke owners some of you seem to think exist.

It hasn't been confirmed that the 750k guaranteed will be offset by whatever NY pays him.
It is offset that would help a lot and his cap hit would be around 655k instead of 1.375m. But there will still be another 625k next year in dead money.
Yeah, that $1.25 million signing bonus isn't going anywhere, no matter what some 'SuperFans' might try to tell you.
And they fail to add the 585k it costs for Mills. It all counts.
The goal is winning games, not maximizing cap space. They could avoid all risk and have a better cap situation but a worse team. And they fail to add the 585k it costs for Mills. It all counts.

Or they could overpay journeyman offensive linemen and be in even worse cap shape?
And wasting $2 million of cap space for Jasper Brinkley to never play a down of football has zero to do with "winning games", quite the opposite in fact.
Signing Brinkley didn't prevent them from signing Hardy, but signing Murray probably would have.Fans can have multi-layered views of the team and the FO.
Plus all we heard all off-season was that Murray wasn't signed because of his contract, which we could easily afford.
If the "goal was winning games", Murray would still be here.
