I expect Gregory to start at DE. It's not guaranteed but it turns out Fredbeard wasn't either.

He actually submitted his reinstatement in a timely fashion. Looks good so far.
One is very different from the other, ones a medical retirement, ones a addict who cant be trusted. If he becomes a rotational player it's a win for the Cowboys, a starter after 2 years off ? Nah.

It is definitely frustrating. Especially if some other team comes in and signs them.

I really think they just want to get his quadriceps checked out. His season ended on the last weekend in November so it’s a logical concern.

Probably so -- just trying to get our potential signees comfortable with the idea of trusting the Dallas FO to take care of their own. ;)

It’s honestly shocking they sign anyone outside. Based on how long it takes to complete deals with their own.

na.. Fred retirement actually gives us 7mil after June 1st, which is just enough to sign our rookie class

After June 1st, we take a 4.5mil hit this year... they can defer the rest of Fredericks money ($7mil)next year. We still take a hit, but spread out over two years. The salary cap will go up next year and we take the smaller hit this year. Hopefully by next year, we won’t have to sign half our team all over again

You said it all when you admitted we'll still take a hit. That directly answered the question that was posted. The other things that you mentioned weren't directly related to the loss that Fred's retirement incurred but merely listed other measures to recoupe the damage that his loss caused.
