I´m inclined to say we are staring at another 8-8 season and that´s if Romo plays at the same level he did this year.
We were very healthy on offense and we were still 16th in the league even though we have Romo, Dez, Witten, Murray etc. and a very steady OL for once.
On D we were horrible and had many injuries but who´s to say Ware, Mo and Lee won´t get injured again for the 3rd straight year, plus Hatcher (our best defensive player this year is probably gone).
At the end of the day the most important thing to consider why I think we will probably finish 8-8 once again is because of Garrett, I just don´t trust him, he is just not a good HC.

With rapid decline of star players health like Ware and Romo I fear the 5-11 years are close at hand.

Some think the arrow is trending up and we can be elite with just one or two more players. Which side are you on?

Afraid you are right - decline is more likely than growth. Dallas still has salary cap problems - Romo's extension won't help that. Players that become free agents will probably be replaced by lesser talent.

10-6. One great draft class can do wonders for a football team. Ask the question again, however, after the draft.

Those who think the arrow is trending up are mostly FANS who think the arrow is trending up every year. Based on the decline of Ware and the slowing down of Witten along with the advancing age and uncertainty of Romo's health coupled with Garrett coming back the Cowboys are much closer to 6-10 than 10-6. The defense needs to be overhauled and who knows if the next DC (third in 3 years) will have any better luck than the previous two.

A new HC wouldn't have guaranteed success moving forward but it would have at least provided some hope for the future. It's clear after 3 full seasons under Garrett the players aren't buying into him and with the declining and underachieving players the Cowboys have it's going to be a challenge just to win 8 games next season.

It's impossible to answer the question without first knowing what off season changes will be made. If they stand pat and make no changes, they're probably closer to 6-10 because their pass defense will remain horrific and Romo will be a year older coming off two back surgeries.

It's amazing how we cannot even make a real educated guess here. X factors Romo and Garrett.

Romo can win you a game you normally Lise.
Romo can lose you a game you should have won.

Garrett will lose you a game you should have won.
Garrett has not yet shown he can win you a game on his coaching.

I swear, what an enigma... Or should I say enigmas we have in Dallas.

Didn't say we're good, said we could have been 11-5.

Simple mistakes caused us to blow leads against Det and GB, there's 10. Not throwing the pick against Den or getting a stop against KC late, and there's a good chance we win at least one of those games. There's your 11. Hardly unrealistic.

Dallas only lost 2 games to non-playoff teams, and both were in contention right up until the end.

11-5 yeah right. We don't have that type of talent. We are what our record says. Yeah we almost beat Denver Detroit and kc but we didnt. We did what we do best, lose close games against good teams. We also couldve lost to friggin Minnesota and the Commanders.... We found a way to lose to GB

Cowboys were literally 5 plays from 10-11 wins this year

Defense was brutal

So if we would've pulled out every close game we played this year we could be 11-5?? Is that what you're saying? We also were 4 or 5 plays from losing to the Vikings and Commanders. It goes both ways. We are 24-24 last 3 years. They are what they are; mediocre. No shot at 11-5 this year.

ha ha ha.

We're not even a good 8-8 team, let alone 11-5.

5 of our losses were by three points or less, how are we not a good 8-8 team?

I think were better than the 8-8 Ravens. Their margin of victory/loss was really small.

I think they are buying into Garrett, they just don't have the overall talent and cohesiveness to improve much,if any, on 8-8. So, closer to 6-10.
