he's my first choice.
i think he'd be a home-run.
he's done an excellent job running that defense.
the injuries haven't stopped them from generating pressures.
he's what we need.
smart.
tough.
strong.
disciplined.
a football guy.

Definitely. And id love it if he brings in Anthony Lynn at OC.

All things considered, he is the best they can do….but he probably knows better. There will be other opportunities for him and he will likely succeed.
Anyone who claims they can win under the current circumstances in Dallas just wants the paycheck. Glenn isn’t on that list. Doesn’t have to be.
And I absolutely question the stones and/or merit on anyone who signs up to be wing clipped and undermined as a head coach. That means youre a Rex Ryan type who no one else would hire,
or someone who isn’t qualified or ready. Shocker that Dallas can’t win and is routinely out coached against top opponents.

At age 82, after having thrown away a decade on his last perfect puppet project, still hasn’t given up on the idea of “grooming” his future head coach.

I guess it’s not the worst idea when it begins to sink in that no one really wants to work for you.
No one else would hire? MM already has the Bears wanting to talk to him.

A HC with a good defensive mind? Might be just what this team needs.

Where within that sentence did you figure I was saying anything about McCarthy?

I’m well aware of the interest in him, and expect him to land a job. I was talking about who would sign up to work for Jerry. Clearly Mike took a pass.

I'd be OK with him *IF* he was allowed to build his own staff and not have jerry force him to work with the coaches jerry wants to hire

Russini mentioned a few league executives she spoke says some teams are favoring former NFL players with strong coaching experience. The feeling is these coaches can better connect with the locker room culture of today ( pretty sure that Gen X) It's why Vrabel suddenly had his choice of teams. Glenn would be an excellent hire IMO........

Reports are the Jets and Saints are going hard after him. Maybe Jerry throws his name in the hat to sell the Cowboys as a better option.

Glenn should be option number 1. Hopefully we can get a chance to speak with him before the Jets or Saints hire him

I would think Glenn knows that the Jets will sink his future coaching career. Dallas might too but he knows that it would be for the full contract lenght since Jerry doesn’t fire head coaches early. New Orleans might be his best bet if they find a QB.

Good point.

We've also got the benefit of Micah Parsons. Surely we're set up a bit better in the immediate future than both teams. That's got to weigh heavy in the mind of a first time head coach.

I'd be stoked with this.

Not only do I think he would make a great HC, but his defense up in Detroit has been excellent (especially with all those injuries they had this year).

i posted in another thread that there is a chance Glenn might be ok with bringing in JWitt since they were teammates for few years.

He is currently a DC and the Jets have a much better defense than the Cowboys. He may appreciate what he could accomplish with their defense.
