Cowboys cornerback grades: Why this group will surprise people this season

I agree with you. Some guys, like Claiborne, Chaz Green, and Lance Dunbar just can't hold up to the NFL beating. Romo too.

But Claiborne missed almost half of the games since he was drafted.

It would take work for someone to approach those dubious numbers.

Yeah, it was a bummer because the team traded up to get him and we were excited. Then it took him a while to develop. He was not a good corner at first. Then when he did finally start playing really well, Jones' gamble seemed to have paid off. Then he got injured and missed a bunch of games. Just wasn't meant to be, I guess. Moving on was the right thing to do. Let's see how the new guys work out.

If they were clear, there would be no "misrepresentation". Tha fact is that they weren't and came across as wanting to have your cake and eat it too.

Glad you're happy.

You’re insufferable. I wasn’t even talking about me although you misrepresented and/or misinterpreted mine several times despite explicit and clear statements. It was about the very first post I quoted. You’re a reductionist, and try to reduce things said into meanings not stated, or inferred and then argue against those points. I’m bored with you though.

A sad story for sure. It would have been great to get that guy we saw for 7 games last year for an entire career. I think when he did play, he was playing as well as anybody. But like you said, wasn't meant to be.

Clear as mud. But yeah, blame the audience when you can't properly communicate.

But not too "bored" to keep banging this tired drum.

I get that............however, I think they'll be an improvement.

100% agree....just not sure if that improvement will be in year one. Next year? Absolutely. Got a lot of new guys learning a new system-- not to mention making the rookie adjustment to the speed and physicality of the NFL.

But-- none of us saw Dak making things look so easy as a rookie-- so maybe the kids will be world beaters after all lol

Sounds good my man. Words with express meaning, meaning exactly what they’re intended to, and then clarified further to assist said audience. My daughter is taking an AP chemistry exam while I patiently wait. I am still bored with you, but twiddling my thumbs hasn’t held my interest much more

Pretty much. We brought in some talented guys and it’s exciting, just asking a lot of them.

This cat better be starting. He's probably just as good as Carroll and has way more upside.

Awuzie at one CB spot, Brown or Scandrick at the other (apparently Scandrick has looked good on the outside) and the other in the slot.

I'm with you, but it looks like it's Brown and Awuzie rotating at that spot, and Carroll getting all of the reps on his side. I can't figure out why, but that's according to everything I've read.

Unless the pass rush improves it won't matter if we have a secondary full of pro bowlers.

I have to chuckle every time I hear someone downgrade the Cowboys because they lost most of their secondary to free agency. While it is true they lost most of their secondary, the truth is, the quality they they lost was minimal.

True, but I laugh just as hard when people claim that rookies they know little about will improve our secondary. You are completely discounting the importance of experience and system familiarity in your analysis. And what kind of improvement could we even be talking about? Mild improvement on a poor secondary? Certainly nothing to talk about.

I thought it was important to retain Church and or Carr this off-season. With that said that was a stop gap solution until we could upgrade the position. Acquiring Nolan Carroll was pretty much a wash letting Carr go. Then we got lucky in the draft this year in picking up two talented corners that will replace Morris Claiborne. We all know he flashed some talent when healthy, but Claiborne could never stay healthy enough to be dependable. Now pairing the new additions with a more experienced Anthony Brown and perhaps a healthier Scandrick feels like an upgrade headed into 2017. Although you may see some rookie mistakes early in the season that make us feel like last years group was better, the 2017 group should get better the 2nd half of the season. Perhaps we will even get more INTs?

I really like the guys we have added-- but I am a realist.

You simply don't turnover 75% of your starting secondary in one offseason without there being a few bumps in the road.

The young guys are definitely athletic-- but they will all take their rookie lumps-- together.

I have a feeling there will be some highlight reel plays where we are ecstatic as well as some frustrating moments where we give up more big plays than we did last year.
Losing that much experience hurts. But adding that much talent will pay off in time
I was concerned with the lose but amazed that we were able to add so much talent in one draft and not use a top pick

Really? This from the guy who insists that either "Jeff Heath sucks and Garrett and the Cowboys are morons for playing him" or "Garrett and the Cowboys are morons" for not playing him sooner?

Now who's "completely discounting the importance of experience and system familiarity in your analysis"?

And what kind of improvement could we even be talking about? Mild improvement on a poor secondary? Certainly nothing to talk about.

Upside, if nothing else. The players who left weren't going to suddenly get better at that stage of their careers, outside of maybe a young player in Wilcox. The rest were vets, closer to the end of their careers than the beginning.
