Cowboys Current Cap Space = $22,006,686 (per OvertheCap)

I was today years old when I learned Tyron Smith is making 2M with the Jets.........and we let him walk.
I think its slightly misleading because he has incentives in his deal that I believe would count against the cap for next year.

Still though he would have been perfect for the Cowboys current situation as you could have given Tyron Smith some scheduled weeks off to keep him healthy and get Guyton some experience to ease him in.

With that knowledge, the team that swears they can't afford good players could've had the following combo of players (per their Cap Hits for 2024):
  • Derrick Henry - $5,105,000
  • Nnamdi Madubuike (DT) - $7,100,000
  • Tyron Smith - $2,900,000 (even if he's NOT an All-Pro anymore, they could've let Guyton learn from him OR had Guyton play RT)
  • DaQuon Jones (NT) - $2,868,000
4 good to great players (when healthy). 2 DT's that ABSOLUTELY would've helped the DT room. And STILL have over $4M left. Had they just signed Dak and CeeDee BEFORE Free Agency (because they KNEW they were gonna cave and give them what they wanted LONG BEFORE the deals were done). But, they don't have the $$$...

I can't wait to see how much we can carry over into next year after waiting to sign Micah 2 weeks before the season starts.

We all know they had enough money to make the moves they desired and could have gone "all in". However they chose to roll that money into 2025 to ear mark it for future contracts. Though it's true they have a lot of guys like Parsons, Tyler Smith, Ferg, and Bland to sign they aren't immediate contracts they had to get done.b

Not only that, but they probably would have saved about $8 - $10 million per year on the cap had they signed them earlier (before the Goff/Love contracts raised Dak from $55ish to $60 million per, and the Jefferson/Brownx2 contracts raised CD from $30ish to $35 per).

If we had the option to keep him for even 5M, that would have been a steal just to have him tutoring and mentoring Guyton who is a project ........ showing him how a future HOF tackle goes about his business.

Completely forgot that point...

Add in whatever we paid Edoga and I bet difference was around $1 million or less. We could have had Guyton at RT pushing or replacing Steele this year. What a blunder

Bingo. If the plan was actually to sign these guys, then waiting made no sense and cost the team bigger contracts. No other team is giving out big contracts in September.

An alternative theory is that Jerry got caught with his pants down on the CD holdout and on Trey Lance's horrific preseason. Perhaps Jerry's plan this spring was to see if letting Dak walk was an option and make CD play another year on his rookie deal while the QB spot was being hashed out. I don't think Jerry was ready for the off season at all b/c he was still stunned by the playoff loss and unsure what to do. So, he did nothing.

I’ve wanted DaQuon Jones for what seems like the past 5 seasons and each time they pass on him. Our FO is just focused on what they like…..
I strongly prefer elite player TraQuandis Leighton.

Yes show him how to miss ever other game with neck and my back pain.

Cowboys zone logic with our record: Dallas has 3 wins and thats 1 more win than teams with 2 wins. SO THERE.

Lie cheat and steal the MO of a narcissist. He and other well known narcissists know how to play the game

He played 13 games last year and made the pro bowl. We aren't going to get that out of Guyton whose already got the whole injury thing figured out. So, he apparently doesn't need Tyron for that part of the job.

What's everybody complaining about? One of our wins was over a team with an actual winning record.

We good
They'd be complaining if we were 6-0....saying things like, Jerry is paying off the league or the refs are helping us, or we'll probably end up at 6-11....Jerry is just messing up our draft position to save fuel money for the yatch......
