Nope, I blamed it on Romo for being a choker. But somehow Dak gets the excuses Romor rarely got.
I suppose you were not here when Romo threw the pick at the end of the Denver game in Texas Stadium against Manning. The final score was something like dal 48 - den - 51. The pick in question was in the shadow of the Dallas goal line. Manning could not get in and score a TD. So the field goal won the game.
It was a defenseless game on both sides. Or it was two superb QB's cutting up the opponents defense. But coming here after the game, almost to a man Romo was being defended for throwing into double coverage in huis usual Favre-like mindset of ignoring risk reward.
And no matter what opponent. Commanders, that late pass where he couldn't see the linebacker that sealed the season. Pittsburgh, where he threw to Witten who was triple teamed instead of an open receiver. Jets, he elected to throw to Witten in that game with the best cornerback ibn the game in front of Witten and a safety behind. Romo threw it directly to the cornerback.
Game after game when the money was on the line, Romo has a propensity to risk, and in some cases lose big.
Yet this site consistently blamed the defense. No gaff by Romo was ever his fault.
I see games where Dak makes mistakes. Two games last year in the waning moments he threw picks. But comparing Romo, the pick machine for most of his career to Dak is folly. And frankly, those two picks were essentially Hail Mary's of a fashion since the game was about to end. Hold the ball and he is indecisive. Throw it and the possibility of a pick outweighs any positive outcome.
One last point. it is a team, game and QB's do not win it all by themselves. I liked Romo. But I got used to him trying to make the hero play. The Dez Greenbay was not a catch. The odds were in the favor of Dallas to slowly drive it down and win the game. Romo made the decision to throw deep. In that case, with four minutes left, that game was list by the QB.
