Let's just sit back and see how this turns out, I'm fine with it for now. We made an initial baby step this season at improving but it's yet to be seen if he is a SB coach.

No one knew Cowher was a SB coach until he won one. :laugh2:

I don't see how you can be disappointed.

It would be bad PR and bad business to just pick up the option year. It would also be accepting mediocrity if he was extended for three years or more.

I compare it to his kindred spirit in San Diego. Turner got three years (well four if you count 2010 which was his option year), but this is after three division titles, three playoff wins and an AFC Championship game appearance.

Norv also took over a team 14-2 team from Schottenheimer. Norv is pretty much in the same boat after losing the division rd to the Jets.

Good. Now we don't have to deal with a lame duck situation.

1st off he said those teams fans not the teams themselves.

2nd a friend of mine who's a Giants fan called me yesterday and said "well atleast I know you guys won't win a Superbowl in the next 3 years with Wade as the head coach".

the Giants,Eagle,Skins and most of the other fans around the league don't think Dallas will win a Superbowl with Wade as the head coach.
kind of like the Eagles have not won a Super Bowl after 12 years with ANdy Reid...or for ANYONE for that matter...and the Skins? Please! The closest team in the NFC East to a Super Bowl was Dallas and STILL IS Dallas

What is your alternative?

A simple year? Perhaps. But that makes for a tense situation and you also have a locker room to appease who felt he earned the additional deal.

This is not that much different from any contract negotiation. There are politics involved not matter how you personally feel about it.

Jones' statements here were far from a ringing endorsement and carried a subtle message. It should be good enough for anyone who wanted him gone.

Cowboys head coach Wade Phillips' extension runs through 2011 -- not 2012 as previously reported.

Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, Phillips was to receive a 2012 option year as well, but it was scratched at the last minute. Essentially, owner Jerry Jones picked up the 2010 option and added one more year. "I'm encouraged by the progress that we made this year, but in no way are we satisfied," Jones explained. "This contract represents that. Two years in the NFL is an eternity, but it has to be urgent."

This is code for "Wade has to get to the SB in the next two years or he is gone."

Since you're against it then that means there is a 99.999999999999999999% chance that Jerry made the right move! :laugh2:

I think a year would be a better test. There's no need for him to be nice and relaxed. He should be on edge with the threat of losing his jobs.
