Cowboys DT Stephen Paea Will Retire at Age 29***Merged***

To most reasonable people-- yes, past accomplishments matter. Nothing predicts future success like past success. But don't let that persuade you-- feel free to jump off the ledge you've climbed onto anytime.

So we got blown out on the road by a good defense. Happened during the Cowboys Super Bowl dynasty years as well. Once a team can make you one dimensional-- you get behind on the scoreboard and things unravel. It happens. Hard to win in this league. But it's awesome to see that you throw out ALL the evidence of Lee's talent and production based on one game. Brilliant "analysis" lol...

You just sound like an entitled, frustrated, over-reacting Cowboys fan. Take a deep breath. Some teams that start hot-- fade down the stretch. Some teams start slow and get better as the season goes along. Happens every year. So here is a straw-- suck it up soldier. There is a lot of football left to play and your piss and moan routine has worn thin lol

Disregarding your first post, it's just idiotic. The NFL is fast moving, "good players" go bad fast and good teams deteriorate in a couple seasons many times. The "past" does not matter here, what matters is how they are performing NOW. But you can continue holding onto past success while ignoring the problems in the present.

No, we didn't get blown out by a defense. Defense doesn't score as much as the offense. The offense blew us out. We got blown out by the offense, and who was there to help with that? The almighty Lee. Again, he's good, but he's not the game changing LB he once was.

And LOL at you bringing up our dynasty team. We're nowhere near that.

And I thought you were done responding? You are still adding nothing here other than "Well, in 2016...". You're terrible at this.

I was not saying our team was equal to the dynasty years-- merely that even in the dynasty years, Dallas' great teams got blown out a few times.

In other words-- even great team lose. Badly. Therefore-- if it happened to some of our best teams ever, stands to reason that it could happen to the 2017 team as well. Just wanted to clear it up since that point went over your head...

So-- based on the success of last year-- how would YOU have shaped this offseason? Did you think this team was "junk" in Jan/Feb? If so-- prove it. Show some wise posts from this offseason that demonstrate your keen awareness that this roster was in as much trouble as you are claiming they are in 5 games into this season.

It's easy to sit back and criticize and play armchair QB... much harder to succeed and fail in the real world of salary caps, injuries, and 31 other teams that are competing with you.

But since you "know" so much and are so confident in the direction this team should make-- how would you have run this past offseason?

Yes, the "great" lose - but they were great because they had a good defense, one of the best O-lines, a legendary RB, a legendary WR, and a great coach. There's no reason to bring up a legendary dynasty, we're not a "great" team, we're not even a "good" team. We got dismantled by the Broncos and then got beat by the Rams just two weeks later. This is the same as people using Brady as their metric, "Well, Brady lost this one game against this one team this one time!" - just ridiculous arguments.

It wouldn't have just been last season i would have changed, but the one before that. I would have prepared in advance with the secondary issues - I would have already cut Scandrick and would have went for Casey Hayward (Who we had interest in, but didn't make a push), I would have then drafted Ramsey and then Myles Jack in the second. Our defense would be looking a little better, wouldn't it?

I like Elliott, but taking an RB top 5 in this day and age when you have holes on defense is ridiculous. I said last year, the Zeke pick may look like gold, but eventually, who we passed on will make us regret it.

And I'm not going back to pull out posts of what I said about this secondary or all the comments I made in the draft zone about not choosing Zeke - I said the one thing I feared, and I said this for a while, was this secondary losing veteran players all in one offseason. I however did not expect this O-Line to decline the way it has, and because of that, I at least thought we'd get to 9-10 wins.

And yeah, I'm sure managing the cap, drafting, and evaluating players in an unpredictable NFL is tough. There are things that can still boggle my mind, and I think with ho with how the Hayward, Ramsey, and Jack performances have been, that our defense would be in a better position right now have I or many others on this board (Many agreed with this) been running the team.

Sadly, we went for a jersey seller in Zeke. We then went with the "clear eye" bum knee, can't pick up a play action to save his life, Jaylon Smith. For those calling the 2016 draft one of the best, I look at it that it may show to hold back our team.

I said the #1 overall draft pick should be used on Romo, Aaron Rodgers, Joe Montana, Tom Brady and some others.

You can go look up the Myles Jack and 2016 draft threads if you'd like. If it's that important.

If you want to say where I was wrong, I had Tunsil ranked higher than Zeke.

I’ll disagree. The Zeke pick looks even better in this day and age of offensive-minded football. It’s almost imperative to have a dynamic RB with an improving star QB. It’s up to Garrett and Linehan to stop getting cute and overthinking the offense and the value of both Zeke and Dak.
