Here we go Cowboy Fans - Bruce Buffer should be doing the intro for this weeks game since this is the Qb Battle the NFC East has been waiting for. The NFL i guarantee you is loving the fact Dak and Wentz will get on the field to battle it out and show the world the NFC East is back. Not to mention both fan bases have been going back and forth over who is the better QB. It is gonna be another dogfight in the NFC East this week between 2 teams that have an epic rivalry and with these 2 new Qb's i think both fan bases can agree this will be fun to watch for years to come. I would hate to be a Giants or Commanders Fan right now LOL had to throw that in there. Alright lets take an in Depth look at this weeks battle.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Cowboys & Eagles have played 114 Times including Playoffs - Cowboys Lead the Series 64-50

Regular Season - Dallas 61 wins Eagles 49 wins

Playoff Wins - Dallas 3 wins Eagles 1 win

Breakdown by Decade:

1960's - Eagles edged Boys 10-9
1970's - Cowboys dominated Eagles 17-3
1980's - Parity at its finest Tied 10-10
1990's - Cowboys comfortable lead 14-8
2000's - Eagles comfortable lead 13-6
2010- Current - Cowboys edge Eagles 8-6

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Offensive Rankings:

Cowboys- Pts- 26.5 (7th) - Yds 401.5 (3rd) - Pass 240.3 (19th) - Rush 161.2 (1st)

Eagles - Pts- 26.0 (9th) - Yds 322.2 (29th) - Pass 210.7 (30th) - Rush 111.5 (15th)

Defensive Rankings:

Cowboys- Pts- 17.8 (6th) - Yds 358.3 (17th) - Pass 266.2 (21st) - Rush 92.2 (10th)

Eagles- Pts- 14.7 (3rd) - Yds 307.0 (5th) - Pass 204.3 (5th) - Rush 102.7 (14th)

3rd down conversion % --- Cowboys 47% (3rd) -- Eagles 34% (29th)

Yards per Play - Cowboys 6.1 (3rd) -- Eagles 5.4 (20th)

TOP is nearly equal - Cowboys 33:09 to Eagles 32:16 ranked 2nd and 3rd

Turnover Margin - Eagles +6 -- Cowboys +4

Misc Defensive Stats:

Cowboys- Sacks 11 - Safety's - 0 - Interceptions - 4 - Forced Fumbles - 8

Eagles - Sacks 20 - Safety's - 1 - Interceptions - 5 - Forced Fumbles - 8

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Key Matchups:

1) EE + Oline vs Eagles Defense - Cowboys must run the ball effectively ! This IS the most important matchup we must exploit. The eagles get to the QB has you can see from there above sack total of 20. Our Line is the best in football and we have the #1 Rush offense so the chances are good that we control this matchup. Everything we do goes off the run, i am sure the Eagles are gonna be looking to bring it vs EE they will not want to be on his next highlight reel. If they do Beasley, Dez and Company must be ready to exploit there matchups.

2) Special Teams - weird right but Eagles always seem to get points off Special teams- Darren Sproles is a Monster, he is a big play waiting to happen, we must be smart and disciplined in this phase of the game. Smallwood and Huff each have kickoff returns for TD's this year already. We cannot sleep at all on special teams this week.

3) Dak vs Pass Rush - Dak's poise will be tested this week on prime time especially if we struggle with number 1. Eagles always seem to get a big hit or 2 on our Qb's. Dak always seems like nothing phases him and that is exactly the kind of mindset you must have when facing a pass rush like the eagles bring. Dak better know where Fletcher Cox is ( i'm sure Romo will point that out to him he is a disruptive force to put it kindly) They also have Connor Barwin, Mycal Kendricks, Brandon Grahem, and Bennie Logan who could also get to the QB on any given play although logan is more of a load vs the run.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Players to Watch:

1) Darren Sproles - I said it above this dude is a beast, he consistently takes screens and dump offs and turns them into big plays. they need to shut this guy down for sure. He averages 4.6 yards on the ground but he averages 12.6 yards per catch.

2) Brandon Grahem DE - 4 sacks 2 ff - Him and Cox lead this team in sacks

3) Fletcher Cox DT - 4 sacks 1 ff

4) Rodney Mcleod - FS - 1 Sack 1 FF and 3 Picks --- eagles safety's are both playing well

5) Malcolm Jenkins - SS - 1 sack 1 Pick

------------------------------------------------------------

Final Take:

We need to do what we do! if we run the ball like in other games the Eagles pass rush and D will not be able to pin there ears back and bring the rush. They are in for a little shock this is not Romo back there ! Dak and the coaching staff use a lot of misdirection, screens, bootlegs, jet sweeps, playaction, and the threat of the read option to keep defenses off balance. We are EXTREMELY Balenced If the Eagles try to bring a ton of pressure and over react to Zeke they will get exposed by a poised and confident Dak. With Dez back if they cheat the run Dez has shown in the past to make big plays and have big games vs the eagles. Not to mention this should make Beasley's life a little easier ( beasley must be so happy this week)

I am really sticking to my special teams concern this week. Wentz has benefitted from the defense and special teams scoring alot of points for him which has allowed him to win even though he hasn't played particularly well. If we have one of our normal 10-12 play drive and cap it with a score to turn around and give up a return on the following KO we will be in trouble. We must make Wentz beat us and not the D or special teams. If we give up 0 points on special teams and not let there D get a pick 6 or fumble return we win.

This will be a dogfight like every NFC East game is BUT if we run it like normal, be good on special teams, force Wentz to play from behind, control Sproles we win this game.

My guess is we win by 2 scores but make no mistake this will be a tough game. Eagles D will be up for this game and will be bringing it.

What are your thoughts ? Did I miss anything ?

Divisional game. Stats go out the window, in my opinion.

We seem to have the best offensive line in football, until we go up against the Commanders and Eagles. IF they do their usual thing and they break down our offensive line, this game could be rough on the rookies.

Great write up. And the most important thing is what you ended with - Don't give their offense any help by giving up big special teams play or turnovers. I don't think their offense can score much without help from the defense or special teams. Don't get panicky or try to force anything.

Thanks Hoov we really cannot afford any gifts to there team points wise. they build momentum and feed off that stuff. Just need a solid, mistake free game and it will frustrate them and give us a solid win

Division games are always tough. Cowboys are the better all around club. The only thing l don't like is coming off a bye week. There is always a little uncertainty about how ready the team will be. Thats the stinking Eagles only hope.
I think for sure we had one of the best bye weeks for us, perfect time for extra rest for a few players. We are getting some good talent back this week

I don't know. We kind of suck at home.
Maybe a couple of playoff wins will change that ! At least i hope, I live in NY and myself and a lot of cowboy fans go to giants stadium to support the boys, but it is shocking that there is no home field advantage. I saw it first hand when i flew down in 2010 to watch my first game in the new stadium. There were a lot of titan fans at that game. People want to see that stadium though ! I just wish i could have gone to the old Cowboys stadium :(

Jinxx, there is a flaw in your numbers.

I remember the Eagles' defense scoring a safety against the Browns and an interception for a touchdown against the Commanders. I also remember the Eagles' special teams having kickoff returns for touchdowns against the Commanders and Vikings. That's 23 points plus any others I did not see.

Since they have 156 total points, that means their offense is responsible for 133 of them, which is a 22.17 points per game average.
