Cowboys FA TE Dalton Schultz Turned Down 3-Year, $36M Contract 'At One Point'

Nah bro, Schroeder turned down a $84M contract from the Lakers and ended up resigning with them for ~$2.6M/1-year.
He is banking $253,947 on a bi-weekly basis net of taxes. He can quickly have a down payment for a nice house after one month of earnings. No a bad life.

TE market never really heated up this free agency period. Can't blame the man for trying, but obviously didnt work out. He'll get another chance next year.
Most likely not. The TE class this year is very big. Maybe up to three could get drafted in the first alone. Schultz should have signed two years ago.....

Didn't work out for him but still walks around with F U money for the vast majority of the population and his family is set for generations

Like someone else stated most teams want a physical TE who can stretch the field and block.
Millions of dollars is not generational wealth. The highest paid athletes don't make generational wealth. That term gets thrown around too loosely.

I don't believe we offered him that contract this year for a second. The story comes from last year's offer I think. We never even spoke to him about a contract this year from a lot of what you read

I mean he should light it up though who else is there to steal touches from him?
I guess. I would never think playing for a rebuilding team would be worth the risk of getting hurt and making even less next year.

Especially when he turned down 3 for 36.....

Maybe some good will come of some of these situations going forward. Guys like Dlaw, Tyron, and now Cooks that are willing to rework their deals and swallow their pride, still get to be gazzilionares and get to keep playing.

Guys who accept their original major offers instead of playing for their paydays...get to keep playing for winning teams instead of the b room.

It won't though....greed is human nature.

Funny those slamming Schultz for supposedly turning down 3 years $36M only to laugh at him for receiving a 1 year $8M deal with the Texans.....yet not long ago in 2019 Dak turned down a 5-year $175M contract offer only to have some members slam Jerry for not signing him....hypocrisy is a funny thing.

Yes it is.

Where do you get this from? Unless you're stupid w/ your money, 100 mill or so will last many generations. Why do you think it wouldn't?

Dak is the leading Fall Guy, for sure. New candidates are surfacing to win the annual Fall Guy award, now that Zeke is gone.....Gallup securing early votes.
Which is funny considering how many people were calling him a future WR1 just two years ago.

I also have money on LVE. He was already headed that way, then he had a great contract year. Now, we’ll be hearing about Wagner every time LVE is anything but amazing.

I was never an LVE fan, but he’s about to become a whipping boy.

Oh, and don’t forget Micah. The same posters who hate Dak, Zeke, Tank, Jaylon, Gregory are anxiously waiting for the chance to start hating Parsons.

Our board is infected with parasites.

Gallup has some #1 traits. His career took a huge backward step w/ injury.

Everyone is blaming his agent but Schultz has his share. When something this important is happening, an intelligent person is not only very involved but very well informed.

Both he and his agent did not correctly gauge the market and got greedy.

NOW maybe one or the other was more conservative but in the end it was almost certainly a joint decision.

It's still up to his agent. That dude should be fired ASAP.

He did the Cowboys a favor. No way I would have offered him that much money. He is an average to slightly above average TE.

A TE making 10M+ is insane unless his name is Travis Kelce.

Witten only made over 10 million one year. Dude only made 82 million dollars in his career. Kelce is making that in 4 years.

Salaries have gotten crazy at the top end. The NFL need to even things out.
