Cowboys fans are having a change of heart around head coach Brian Schottenheimer

Ok that's fair.....I was more so talking about the grading part but yeah as far as having a "change of heart"....I didn't like the hire but he interviews well. He's saying all the right things. Not that it means it was the right decision based on that but he at least knows how to interview.....shockingly...I don't think we've had that since Parcells....Wade, JG and Mike are the worst interviews EVER. I'm still pissed how they went about hiring a coach...shockingly, I love the staff the put together which is why i'm even willing to give him a shot. He at least has the sense to know what type of staff to build. Mike brought in Mike Nolan for some strange reason.
Overall, I like the staff that has been put together. I don't know how much that was the front office's influence and how much of it is No-Schott. The only one I don't like on the surface of it is the special teams coach. He has worked with No-Schott before, so I think he is responsible for that one, but his only time spent as a special teams coach was a failure, so I don't know if it is just a buddy hire.

As far as players go, again, I don't know his level of involvement. Did he pick the players? Did McClay? Did the Joneses? The one thing I do know is whoever picked them was limited by the Joneses' free agent philosophy, which is you don't spend big on outside free agents. Ultimately, I believe that has been proven to be a failed philosophy and will bite us again. I don't necessarily have a problem with the players we brought in ... I don't blame them and hope for the best with them, and I don't blame the coaches and personnel men, either, because I think they did what they could with the mandate they were under. This problem goes back to 2012. (Before that, the Joneses devalued the draft, but Parcells changed that.)

No my man.....2 Super Bowls in the total history of their franchise...
They’ve won championships in their “total history”. I may not be familiar with it, but I’ve read where they’ve beaten Lombardi, Belichick, and Reid for championships. The franchise represents.

Who cares about anything that’s happened before June 14, 2025? Other teams’ fans eschew their team’s past. Cowboys fans are immersed in it. Clinging to the memory of past glory is nothing more than rationalizing why you’re still a Cowboys fan.

I question why I still follow this team...... especially when they have an owner who openly admits the results on the field aren't important.

I was here a decade before you .......... and I will be here after you change your name again to hide your past.

You are a Jerry fan ......... I am waiting for him to be gone.

Now ....... go vote for Jerry's newest puppet some more.
You’ve been a troll a decade before I came here.

Oh so they added all those good players this year for nothing.

In an attempt to stay relevant? Absolutely. Don't confuse these 'meh' moves made over the past couple months with Jerry trying to build a champion. He isn't......

The Cowboys haven’t done anything other teams haven’t done in deference to building their roster.
Added 17 new coaches and will have some outstanding new players. Pickens could be the best player added in the entire league. Their 1st two draft picks look like they will be absolute studs.

The draft picks may indeed be good…

But I’m sure that you said the same thing about Taco, Mazi, and Bossman Fat in recent years.

In fact, you have probably never said a negative thing about a top draft pick until they were proven JAGS.

I like the energy and direction for sure. I'm like most of the forum when I say, let's see what happens when it counts.

Cowboys fans have really come around on Brian Schottenheimer.

Back in January of this year, when the Dallas Cowboys needed a new head coach after Mike McCarthy’s departure, fans had their own favorites for the job. Suffice it to say, very few fans had Brian Schottenheimer at the top of their list.

When Jerry Jones decided that the Cowboys offensive coordinator was the man for the job, there was a tremendous negative backlash from the fanbase. Many thought the Jones family was just going cheap because Schottenheimer would be a first-time head coach. Others thought Jerry was just hiring a puppet, someone who would carry out his wishes.

In general, it was a time when most thought - what are the Cowboys doing? Fast forward roughly six months, and the feeling is very different.

Not sure how much credit Schotty gets for going OL/DL in the draft/off-season but at least he wasn't part of the decision making that went another direction. At this point you just have to give the guy a benefit of a doubt and at least let him take his shot before running him out of town.

And what exactly is wrong with that? We don’t know these players until they’ve proven one way or the other on the field. You certainly don’t know that they all suck even though you think you do.

“absolute studs”? Absolute? Then what’s the problem fully guaranteeing Ezeiruaku’s contract? Maybe he’s just kind of a stud. Cowboys’ fans think yet another new OC for Philly will hold them back. You think 17 new coaches is some sort of advantage. So the staff with “three straight 12 win seasons” was not good enough to retain and Jerry is good enough to do better with this group? No. Even you don’t believe that.

Wrong. I (and many others) knew Taco was crap. I desperately wanted TJ Watt with that pick. He was obviously an incredible value at the bottom of the 1st.

Instead…..our genius coaches wanted a player that fit their scheme instead of a player who had obvious superstar talent and a great genetic pedigree.
