Cowboys Fans, Can the Pewter Pirates Handle T.O. Owens?

Good evening everyone...

I realize it's late on the east coast, but I wanted to inquire about Terrell Owens (TO).

Your team has, in fact, waived his services, therefore I look forward to Mark Dominik picking up the phone and contacting #81. Before that happens, I wanted to get a quick list of questions answered regarding the hall of famer, superstar, and leader.

1. How would the WR fair in the NFC South? Save the Bucs, the defenses in this division are incredibly weak, especially at both the cornerback and secondary positions.

2. Would he be willing to play for a coach that is younger than he is? Coach Morris already has more coaching experience than Owens, so I would figure this would be an easy transition.

3. In order to save cap space, would he be willing to restructure his contract to the vet minimum with incentives? The Pewter Pirate front office has worked extremely difficultly to get this large amount of cap space, therefore it's not necessary to spend it all now.

4. In comparison to superstars such as Joey Galloway and Ike Hilliard (who both, unfortunately, were cut due to massive contract demands), how would you rate Terrell O.?

5. Luke McCown reminds me of a taller Tony Romo, with a stronger arm and quicker feet. Given McCown's pedigree of a long line of NFL QB's, will there be a clash of ego's in the locker room?

I appreciate the Cowboys Zone membership taking time out of their day to answer these simple questions. I hope this will work out for both teams.

When I woke up to the news this morning, I said to my GF, he will be going to one of four teams, Oakland, NYJ, Washington or Tampa Bay. Will you Pittman4Two change your handle to Owens4Two or Owens4Six after he signs with you?

There will always be a small part of my heart that is dedicated to Michael A. Pittman.

As much as I understand the undoubted talent of a player such as Owens, Pittman's still the man.

I doubt TO would even seriously consider the Buccs unless they were absolutely the only team in the entire league that was offering.

Yikes. Where to begin...tampa...young coach and team with no QB worth a crapola....Me-O....OLD and toxic.......bottom line....no chance in HE!! this will happen...........

That's kinda low, don't you think? We have a lot to offer here in Tampa. He wouldn't have to go very far when he retires.

Sounds simple to me.

>> He will fare well against any defense that gives him a free releae off the line of scrimmage.

>> T.O. doesn't care how old the coach is. It doesn't take an old man to figure out T.O. likes whatever coach gets him the ball.

>> He is no longer under contract with the Cowboys. TB is free to negotiate him how ever they see fit.

>> Better and more durable than both

>> Ummmmm what?

See above...

I agree with what you said, however it will be nice to get that extra 9 million from the Cowboys to add to the Bucs cap.

It's not because I think you've got a crappy team. But he's going to do his best to land somewhere that they at least have the QB in place that they want in the position and not just the best of what was left on their scrap heap.

1)he will perform in any division

2)your young coach will be fine as long as he caters to Owens and NEVER challenges him or blames him for anything

3)NO

4)3 times better than both put together ..on the field......off the field..not so much

5) your comparisons to Romo and McCown are laughable.....and yes there will always be ego clashes with anyone on the team that has to share the camera with TO

in short a young rebuilding team like your Bucs will set itself back 3 years if they try this experiment with this guy.....

Don't worry, Luke's not going anywhere. Notice how we didn't even let the kid test the market. Owens could take a lot of pressure off Luke in key situations...not to mention our three-headed rushing attack (Ward, Graham, Cadillac)

keep telling yourself that.......

Didn't you guys just franchise Bryant to be the guy who takes that pressure off of Luke? Why would you want to pay two WR's big time money?

I'm really confused by this statement.

However, Bryant was signed to a small contract and I believe he would restructure to bring in a mentor of Owens caliber.

Owens actually was a pretty good mentor to younger WRs, by the way.

When did he sign anything other than the franchise deal? That's not small because if I remember correctly it will be for at least 9 million this year, if they don't get him signed long term.

As for the confusion I mistakenly typed Bryant twice when I meant to type Luke the second time.

If you guys sign Owens, you'll have huge amounts of lots of work to do...
