Can you please elaborate on this with some more details please. I find it strange that in the thousands upon thousands of cap related threads I have seen on the internet, this aspect of how the cap works has never come up in any of them. I would love to know the details as you seem to understand them.

I appreciate your cantor. As this seems to be the wrong thread for this type of essay, I will summarize for you the analyzations I've come acrossed during the last 10 years of following the game of NFL League football.

The salary cap is a wild animal that can only be tamed by the smartest of tamers. Bruce Allen was one of the best tamers of the cap the Bucs have had over the last decade of 10 years. He was able to bring in big names like Joey Galloway, Jeff Garcia, Jameel Cook, Jerramey Stevens, etc. The list could go on and on but you get what I'm cooking here.

As far as the cap goes, it's really simplistic yet not entirely non-difficult to wrap your hands around. When a team waives (or cuts) a player, in this case TO Owens, the next team that signs him will receive a gratuity in the form of dead money. This dead money is called dead since the team that waived him obviously won't have him on the team. The money goes into a blackhole never to be seen again until it's paid to the new team.

I realize you're a newbie to this, but please don't hesitate to ask any questions that you may need answered.

Actually I'm not a newbie and I now know you're just being stupid or have no clue. I can simply ignore your pointless drivel now. Thank you!

Good evening everyone...

I realize it's late on the east coast, but I wanted to inquire about Terrell Owens (TO).

Your team has, in fact, waived his services, therefore I look forward to Mark Dominik picking up the phone and contacting #81. Before that happens, I wanted to get a quick list of questions answered regarding the hall of famer, superstar, and leader.

1. How would the WR fair in the NFC South? Save the Bucs, the defenses in this division are incredibly weak, especially at both the cornerback and secondary positions.

TO needs to be in a WCO IMO. His strengths were not used here as much as I would have liked and I suspect certainly him. He is still a #1 WR in the NFL no matter the system but his OC needs to go to his strengths and away from the defenses that had learned to stifle him in our scheme. I suspect he would do well in the NFC South.

2. Would he be willing to play for a coach that is younger than he is? Coach Morris already has more coaching experience than Owens, so I would figure this would be an easy transition.

TO is always TO. WYSIWYG. If he is treated fairly he will in his own way do his best. He is high maintence no matter the mood or times. Get him the ball and give him his numbers and he will help any club.

3. In order to save cap space, would he be willing to restructure his contract to the vet minimum with incentives? The Pewter Pirate front office has worked extremely difficultly to get this large amount of cap space, therefore it's not necessary to spend it all now.

He's going to want his money. Guaranteed money up front will be necessary. He will want to play another 2-3 years. When it's clear to him his skills are no longer elite I believe he will retire. I think his ego will not tolerate him being less than perceived at least as a top NFL wideout.

4. In comparison to superstars such as Joey Galloway and Ike Hilliard (who both, unfortunately, were cut due to massive contract demands), how would you rate Terrell O.?

Joey Galloway has enough game yet to be a role player or #2/3 WR in the NFL for the right team. Hilliard has really always been a role player for awhile. I have no idea if he's got gas in the tank anymore. TO is still a force to account for and double and triple team and scheme away.

5. Luke McCown reminds me of a taller Tony Romo, with a stronger arm and quicker feet. Given McCown's pedigree of a long line of NFL QB's, will there be a clash of ego's in the locker room?

I appreciate the Cowboys Zone membership taking time out of their day to answer these simple questions. I hope this will work out for both teams.

Tony Romo has some unique skills that you don't see in many QBs even great ones. If McCown can really give Tony a run for his money then I'm not aware of it but for your sake you could wish for it. All Tony needs to do is learn when to be Tony and when not. He's improved his INTs each year but still finds way to turn the ball over. He's yet to balance his unique skills with the proper reserve needed. He just never had the time for Bill to reign him in and now no one appears to be doing so. If he can do that and still retain his Mojo and Jerry can give him the right tools and team then he will be a threat to be a HOF player and win SBs.

The Bucs have a 32-year-old coach don't they? Okay, I don't know how old he is, but I believe he's younger than T.O.

You simply can't bring in an older veteran, and one who undermines coaches and coaching staffs, on your football team.

Tampa won't touch him, IMO.

Forgive me but I find that an absurd reason. My thoughts are there are many other reasons far more important to decide yea or nay.

No, he's a nuclear bomb. Huge mistake, and I knew it was going in. I hope Jerry's infatuation with these types of players is over because it's stupid.
