Don't worry, Luke's not going anywhere. Notice how we didn't even let the kid test the market. Owens could take a lot of pressure off Luke in key situations...not to mention our three-headed rushing attack (Ward, Graham, Cadillac)

You mean, that dominating rushing attack that ranked 15th in the NFL in rushing offense last year?? The one that was tied for 18th in yards per carry, tied for 19th in rushing TDs and 21st in first down percentage??

Strange how the Bucs threw the ball 35.1 times per game, and ran it just 28.2 times per game, with such a powerful running game... must be some bad coaches down there by the bay... :D

That's kinda low, don't you think? We have a lot to offer here in Tampa. He wouldn't have to go very far when he retires.

Sounds simple to me.
How about a proven QB?

Good evening everyone...

I realize it's late on the east coast, but I wanted to inquire about Terrell Owens (TO).

Your team has, in fact, waived his services, therefore I look forward to Mark Dominik picking up the phone and contacting #81. Before that happens, I wanted to get a quick list of questions answered regarding the hall of famer, superstar, and leader.

1. How would the WR fair in the NFC South? Save the Bucs, the defenses in this division are incredibly weak, especially at both the cornerback and secondary positions.

2. Would he be willing to play for a coach that is younger than he is? Coach Morris already has more coaching experience than Owens, so I would figure this would be an easy transition.

3. In order to save cap space, would he be willing to restructure his contract to the vet minimum with incentives? The Pewter Pirate front office has worked extremely difficultly to get this large amount of cap space, therefore it's not necessary to spend it all now.

4. In comparison to superstars such as Joey Galloway and Ike Hilliard (who both, unfortunately, were cut due to massive contract demands), how would you rate Terrell O.?

5. Luke McCown reminds me of a taller Tony Romo, with a stronger arm and quicker feet. Given McCown's pedigree of a long line of NFL QB's, will there be a clash of ego's in the locker room?

I appreciate the Cowboys Zone membership taking time out of their day to answer these simple questions. I hope this will work out for both teams.
:laugh2:

As always, excellent post Pittman4Two. Post more often. ;) :D

TO is gonna be a RAIDA mark my words. They are the only team dumb enough to take him.

Didn't you guys just franchise Bryant to be the guy who takes that pressure off of Luke? Why would you want to pay two WR's big time money?

They just gave Michael Clayton a new contract also. 5 years $25 million I think too. Owens as we all know will never land there for too many reasons. The first is that no rookie HC is going to take the risk of having to coach this lightning rod on his first HC opportunity after his track record with 3 teams.

Cable is a lame duck coach so he may be the only rookie HC to let the owner smooth T.O onto him and risk the rest of his career. It's not like any other team would give Cable an opportunity like that so what choice does he have?

Al is the only other owner ballsy enough, but other than Jerry and Shanny who wanted T.O when he got thrown out from Philly? Al didn't chase him, he did have Moss at the time. Remember, Norm was willing to be coach here with T.O on the roster. If A.J down the in SD thinks he's not going to be too much for Rivers to deal with than SD might be the other only spot. LT is there and T.O would respect that. They need to get the defense going though. That offense would be a nightmare even more so than it already is.

I agree with what you said, however it will be nice to get that extra 9 million from the Cowboys to add to the Bucs cap.

That's not how it works, you don't get cap relief for signing someone counting against our cap. He's dead money against the Dallas cap, whatever deal he make with Tampa has nothing to do with that.

This is not my first time around the bush, my friend. Whomever signs TO will then immediately receive "dead money" from the former team. This is level one-type cap knowledge.

The same thing happens in a trade deal. One team gets a player and the other team would get a player as well.

Can you please elaborate on this with some more details please. I find it strange that in the thousands upon thousands of cap related threads I have seen on the internet, this aspect of how the cap works has never come up in any of them. I would love to know the details as you seem to understand them.

Good eye. We've already started with the front office. It helps when you are younger on top and that youth runs down to the players. It gives them life and vigor.

That's right I'd forgotten about the money they also just gave Clayton. The rookie HC is a good point as well. I agree.
