the Skins could win, and... (let's hear your best, most humorous analogy to the Skins winning--and you can't use "and I could get a date with Jessica Simpson" or "and Snyder can buy a free agent that can play."

We didn't even play hard that last game. We didn't care, the game meant nothing to us.

As for your comment that we have only won 2 of the last 6, why stop in 2005, why not go back to 1998, or is that because those numbers do not assist you?

Let me explain and I will go slow so you can understand. I am only going back to the Parcells/Gibbs 2 era. The reason being is the teams we see today were built by these coaches. The players for the most part are the same the matchups are similar. I am trying to show you that the Skins personnel matches up well even with a high scoring Dallas O, which is basically the same O from last year.
Understand? The Skins are not a pushover like the mediots would have you believe.

BraveHeartFan you are a voice of reason. Thanks for your reply.

As for the last game not meaning anything, that is crazy. The shock of being man handled no doubt had an effect on their performance against the Giants. Why did Romo play into the second half if it didnt mean anything? The Skins are 5x better than the team you faced last year. Prediction coming soon.

To set passing records. You'll notice that as soon as he and Witten passed the records they were chasing, in the fourth quarter, they left the game.

That last game was about that, and nothing more, for the Cowboys. For the Skins it meant everything cause they HAD to win it to get in.

Now, honestly, if I'm the coach of the Cowboys I'd probably have wanted to play you guys as hard as possible cause I'd have loved the idea of being the reason you didn't make the playoffs. That, obviously, is not how all coaches think.

And I do think you guys are better than last year but 5x better is stretching it a bit.

Because he needed a few completions to get a Cowboys passing record. That's the only reason he played so long.

Yup, it took him almost 3 quarters to get a few completions. MB tried and failed in his 1,000 yd. quest. Dont tell me getting destroyed year after year late in the season hasnt had an impact on your team. At least the Skins won a playoff game.

Say what?

The Cowboys have lost two playoff games. Before those playoff games, I would hardly call the Cowboys a very good team.

If you call a bobbled snap and a loss to the eventual Super Bowl champ getting destroyed then yeah...we got destroyed.

However, your definition of getting destroyed probably needs some reworking.

I am not sure if you have noticed or not, but Dallas is on an upswing and not a downswing.

It stands to reason we will get better in the immediate future as opposed to get worse (barring injuries of course).

Dallas was not supposed to be 13-3 last year. I wonder what your prediction for them before last year began was? 13-3...yeah right.

They won a playoff game last year? Really? Huh...could have swore they got beat by Seattle.

I don't even remember the last time the Skins won a playoff game (I'm sure it's been since the last time Dallas has otherwise Skins fans wouldn't beat their chests so hard with that argument) but it certainly wasn't in the last couple of years.

Ok, then go back to 2004 so it is 4-4. If you want Parcells/Gibbs 2, then you cannot stop in 2005 (was that slow enough for you)?

I'll start my post by saying I'm a Skins fan and a proud representative of ExtremeSkins, just to get it out of the way early. Before Hostile or anyone else jumps down my throat, I am aware that the team I pull for originated in Boston. I am aware that our name has nothing to do with Peanuts. If my memory is correct, the Dallas franchise originated partially out of the Commanders fight song being held hostage in return for a deciding vote.

Oh, and Barnee Breeskin composed the original version of "Hail to the Commanders," (since modified) I believe. If not composed, I know he was involved in it's creation in some way, but I didn't want to cheat and look it up. Hopefully this establishes me as a little more than a mouth breather.

Anyway, I joined awhile ago but haven't posted until now. I like this forum in that there's actually intelligent football discussion here, much like there is on ExtremeSkins; not many fanbases can claim that. I don't like your team in the slightest, and never will, but as a fanbase, you folks are alright by me, especially compared to people from Philly.

As to the game coming up this Sunday, you guys are favored and should be, you've earned it. Your team looks solid. I do question the spread (11.5 seems high) and why you are so confident you'll blow the Skins out. From my point of view, there was a season split last year, though the team weren't equally motivated in Week 17. However, the mid-season game, Dallas won 28-23.

My question is, what has changed? The Commanders return almost every single starter from that game. Sean Taylor was alive but hurt. Our corners are the same, (I forget when Rogers went down) our linebackers are the same, and with Jason Taylor (our only major offseason acquisition) hurt, our D-Line is the same. On offense, we're returning the same QB, same RB's, same WR's, but our line will be upgraded because Randy Thomas is playing, and Jansen/Heyer is an upgrade over Todd Wade from last year.

Our major change has been our offensive system, but Campbell is getting more comfortable in it, and it's certainly been more effective than the system we were running under Gibbs, at least so far.

I don't follow Dallas as closely, but I see the same QB, same WR's, same feature RB, same TE, etc. I don't know if you've made O-line changed, and I know you have an extra CB or two, but again, isn't it mostly the same team.

Knowing that, and knowing how these teams usually fight when they play each other, why would anyone think it will be a blowout? I won't go so far as to predict a Commanders victory. We've looked pretty good these past two weeks and I think we can get better. But Dallas has looked far and away like the class of the NFL right now, and we haven't seen a team like yours yet.

If the spread stays at 11.5, I'd pick the Skins to cover, but if I had to predict an outcome/score, my gut tells me that Dallas comes out on top, maybe 24-20, 23-17, something along those lines. I hope I'm wrong of course, I would like nothing better than to topple you from your perch, but respect is given, and your team has earned it. If it turns out that you do win, I'll come back here and take my lumps, and hope that I can be dishing it right back when you visit our house in November.

I was going to end this with some sort of smilie, but too many of them contain the hated blue star. However, I'm sure we can all agree that this one brings a smile to everyone's face.

You got me gbrittain. I didnt think the Boyz were gonna be 13-3 last year. I did however think they were gonna collapse in "epic fail" again in the postseason. As an outsider looking in I see Dallas peaking to early in the season. When the end of the season comes around Dallas has shown all their cards.

2005 I believe, over Tampa Bay. The Sean Taylor-Michael Pittman spitting incident game. Then we lost to Seattle (who else) when Shaun Alexander was knocked from the game in the 1st quarter. Once he was knocked out, I was positive we were headed for the NFC championship, but Maurice Morris had other ideas.

Most importantly, IMO, we've revamped secondary.

Hopefully, soon the days will be long gone when you (and others) can regularly target a player or players in our secondary. We're solid (and getting better) across the board.

Because our secondary is improved, our pass rush is improved. We may not have outrageous sack totals to this point, but we've easily left a couple of sacks per game on the field. Most fans expect that to change.

Simply stated, our offense is high octane (and has added playmakers in Jones and possibly Austin), and now the defensive side is vastly improved. While the D still has a lot of work to do, we're only getting better. Mix in our improved special teams, and we've effectively addressed all three aspects of the game.

Our team is no fluke, and has very few flaws — name another team that can say the same thing.

2005 at Tampa Bay. :) I think Seattle has been the achilles for both the Skins and Boys the last few years.

Again, I can't argue that in the end we failed. However, the year Dallas lost to Seattle we were hardly world beaters.

I do not remember specifically, but I would assume we were not favorites to win going into Seattle.

We were a young team making progress, but not a serious threat.

Last year as you acknowledged already, Dallas was way way ahead of schedule.

The sample we have to judge from is very limited. Why would I look at the last two years and assume Dallas will fail again?

It makes no sense. It could happen for sure. No doubt being a Skins fan that is what you want to happen and cheer for.

Should we go ahead and give the trophy to NY since they won it all last year.

Should we go ahead and assume you guys will make the playoffs and lose your first playoff game as well?

If you are pointing at a 4-6 year history of failure and basing your predictions on that instead of what you want to happen, then you will be onto something.

This is a young and improving team and not a team in regression mode.

One post you say the fact we have 5 sbs means nothing, bc its the past.
Then in the next 4 posts you mention the past as a reason the skins win.

Wow.

Anyways, your 2-1 and have lost to the only decent football team you played. Not only that but it was not even close. You were beaten in every phase of the game.

Your Tackle is out, so you have who exactly blocking Ware and Ellis this week?

We have beaten 3 teams that will likely end up in the playoffs this year, and held 2 supposed top qbs entering the season so pretty much nothing. Held Anderson to under 200 yards passing. Held A-Rod to 219 with 5 minutes left. He picked up some garbage-time yards where we were just taking away the deep ball.

I just see it as campbell is getting sacked by lesser pass-rushes than the boys. The packers have a good OL and we got Rodgers 5 times. We got McNabb a bunch. We got to Anderson. Campbell has a slow delivery than all 3 of those guys.

The Commanders simply do not have enough Offense to stay with us.
