Cowboys franchise Pollard next season?

There is 0 chance that Pollard is not with this team next year. They will absolutely franchise him. He is this team’s best offensive player and it ain’t close. Zeke will either take a pay cut or he’ll be gone.

100% agree and I wouldn’t have said that at the beginning of the year. Watching Pollard the past few games has been remarkable. He’s only 25 years old and split carries in college and in the NFL so he’s not overworked. Sign him for 4 years and let him be the focal point of this offense.

I dont disagree. But for those saying we simply cant pay Pollard we can just draft his replacement, I think they are sadly mistaken. I showed with my post that about 15 crappy backs are taken for each good 1.

For sure. I would be cautious though about signing Pollard to another 4 year deal with guarantees like Zeke had. Most teams are getting away from long term commitments to RBs and for good reason. It’s the riskiest position investment on an NFL roster IMO.

For sure. I would be cautious though about signing Pollard to another 4 year deal with guarantees like Zeke had. Most teams are getting away from long term commitments to RBs and for good reason. It’s the riskiest position investment on an NFL roster IMO.

...I agree, either sign him to a 3-4 year deal which is front loaded or tag him the next two years which would also necessitate Zeke taking a cut and if he won't then subsequently releasing him and drafting another bruising RB in the 3rd-5th round.

I would tag him and release Zeke. Replenish the stable with a couple mid round draft pics next draft. Malik Davis looks to be more than serviceable as well. After a year of Pollard taking the lead role then decide what to do with him.

My take is I'm signing TP to a 4 year deal easy because he's a Playmaker/Offensive weapon.

Take the savings from letting Shultz go ($10M), and a Zeke paycut or release to sign TP anywhere from $10-12M. I think Tony is comparable to Aaron Jones and he's 3 years younger with less tread than most RBs.

Go get a workhorse RB in the draft or UFA for cheap, and let him and TP 1-2 punch it out on defenses.

I made no comparison of Pollard to Mahomes. I was mocking your statement that we should just draft Pollard's replacement. Had you read my post above, like I commented on, youd see the proof that I posted that finding a back of Pollard's abilities had about a 90% or so fail rate by all the teams drafting backs in the first 4 rounds of 2018 and 2019. I then stated since we could so easily replace Pollard... why not just draft another Mahomes while we are at it.

Since you can not read between the lines, I was saying your comment was about as ignorant as the one I followed it up with.... you know, the part about just finding the next Mahomes...... since it is so easy, as you implied.

I would break my own rule about signing RBs and sign Pollard for the right price, but I have a feeling the price is going to be too high. Pollard will be gone next year because someone will offer him close to a Zeke-like contract. Pollard is a game changer. You can see he can score in the passing or running game. He is worth way more than Zeke. I hope the Cowboys can get something done with him, even if it means letting Zeke go. the thing you have to worry about though is RBs don't have long careers generally. But f you use them right they can last log enough.

I think the price is around 10 and I don’t think that’s too high if you move on from Zeke
You can structure it cheap the first year and there after it’s no more expensive than what we have scheduled to pay Zeke. Actually a little cheaper
It’s much easier to replace what Zeke brings to the game than what pollard brings
Pollard can be what McCaffery or Deebo bring

Holy crap....... dman, can you comprehend? Sure it can be done, but teams FAIL miserably at doing it. I can also win the lottery... it can be done! Not very likely. So sure, you can find a Pollard in rd 7.... but not liekly. So just saying go draft another Pollard, while possible, is far more likely we fall on our face and replace Pollard with a garbage player. But again, you obviously failed to look at my post that showed all of the FAILURES teams drafted vs the very few successes.

You can put money like that at, I don't know, safety or DT maybe? That's a hefty amount for a player who is only having a stretch of games so far.

They had no choice but to pay Schultz for one season because they couldn’t afford to lose him, along with Amari Cooper and Cedrick Wilson. That would have literally wiped out our entire starting receiving group, except for CeeDee. Schultz tied for the team lead along with Cooper with 8 TD catches. Plus Schultz has been Dak’s security blanket. I find it hard to believe the Cowboys would turn around and pay a complementary back 12 million per for one season. He’s a very good player, but he does have some liabilities.

Keep Cooper and lose Schulz and Gallup, getting comp picks for them next year.

Tyron smith will be HOF, thats hall of fame player
Zach martin will be a HOF player
Travis fredrick would be HOF player if not for his disease
Micah Parsons has potential to be a HOF player

All unprobable, all really happened, all fairly recently being 3 of 4 soon to be HOF players on this team. Their drafting track record is way better than your opinion.

Zeke would be a June 1st cut to save as much cap space as possible. I didn’t sign Zeke to his ridiculous contract. What is the alternative? Let Pollard walk and just roll Zeke out again?
