The choices the Dallas Cowboys have made in the first week of free agency have revealed more of the team’s draft intentions.

Outside of retaining some of their own players, the Dallas Cowboys have been relatively quiet during the first week of NFL free agency. Yet, the limited moves that they have made, and the free agents they visited with, are revealing more and more of the Cowboys intentions in the upcoming NFL Draft.

First, let’s cover the actual signings the Cowboys have made through the first three days of free agency. On Wednesday, the day to market officially opened, the only move Dallas made was re-signing middle linebacker Rolando McClain.

The following day, the Cowboys retained practice squad cornerback Josh Thomas. Then, Dallas signed their first new free agent in former Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Cedric Thornton...

There are several positional groups that could quickly come into play for the top levels of the upcoming draft.

If the Cowboys are really serious about giving Rod Marinelli the personnel to run his Tampa 2 modified, then they have to secure the line of scrimmage. That stated, there are two positions that will come into play here - defensive end and defensive tackle.

The leading candidates for defensive end, seem to be:

*Shaq Lawson
*Noah Spence
*Emmanuel Ogbah
*Kevin Dodd

The leading candidates for defensive tackle, seem to be:

*A'Shawn Robinson
Sheldon Rankins
*Andrew Billings
Jarran Reed
*Robert Nkemdiche
Vernon Butler
*Kenny Clark

If the Cowboys feel going into the draft, that their weakest link is the secondary, then they could focus upon:

FS Ramsey

Has been a long time position of JJ to take care of glareing needs prior to the draft.....never know how the draft unfolds and helps prevent the need for a bad reach for a position of remaining need............I'm sure Stephen and Mcclay buy into the same philosophy. RB last year a good example.
