I have been on this for a while. Check previous posts. He is gonna be the Giants next coach. This current GM only cares about looking smart right now. Hiring Garrett makes you look smart.

Ray Handley will be the Giants next coach :starspin

I think a big factor would be what Jason considers his "home".

He attended Princeton and played for the Giants. If he considers the Tri-States his "home", than I can definitely see the possibility of him coaching them as an attractive opportunity.

There are three trails the rest of this season can take, and the two outside ones leave little doubt about Tom Coughlin's future. If the Giants make the playoffs and win a game or two, he'll get an extension on the one year he has remaining on his contract. If the Giants collapse and fail to make the playoffs, it's goodbye time. But it's that middle trail that is tricky, the one this team has taken the past two seasons: make the playoffs, but get bounced in the first round. That would continue to raise questions about just how far Coughlin can take this team. That could spark an urge in general manager Jerry Reese – who says it is inappropriate to comment on the matter at this time – to look for an alternative. This year there could be one young plum, Jason Garrett, the Cowboys' offensive coordinator who has ties with the Giants. -- Bergen Record
Giants DC is already promised the job when Tom leaves. That is as well known as Jason getting the HC here when Wade leaves.

I love how it says that Garrett has ties with the Giants. Yea, like he won super bowls with them, like he played in big time games with them. It's like saying Emmitt is going to come back as a running backs coach for the Cardinals because he has ties there.

Troy Hambrick will be our new OC when Garrett leaves. Book it.

Very possibly, but the offense was pretty good last year too, without Garrett. Red certainly deserves a ton of credit, but there are other good coaches doing spectacular work, too. The biggest improvements in the Dallas offense from last year have come at QB and OL, and I doubt Romo would be having an MVP-type season without the Pro Bowl play of some guys in front of him. I think Garrett's brother deserves props, too. We have the best set of TEs in the league. The blocking we're seeing from the TEs has improved dramatically.

I hope I'm wrong, I really, really do. But I think the chances of JG being the next head coach of the Cowboys are fairly slim.

Why do you think the chances of Garrett being our next head coach are very slim?? From my perspective:

The Cowboys are a known commodity and are going to be playing in a new stadium second to none

Wade could be a 2 or 3 year head coach. Garrett gets a big fat raise and learns a lot more interpersonal skills from an experienced players head coach

Garrett knows the Cowboys are positioned and personnel resourced to possibly make a several year run like the Patriots

Garrett has a potential franchise quarterback in Romo to help ensure his head coaching legacy

Garrett has an ownership family that is very football oriented and gave him another opportunity of a lifetime by hiring him as the O coordinator with the prospect of being head coach some day. No other team offered this to Garrett BEFORE he proved himself. That right there should be embedded in Wayne Garrett's mind.

Is it possible he could still walk, yes...but I highly doubt it. I am more concerned with Sparano doing that.

Why is everyone so worried about Jason Garrett moving on?

This is the NFL and there are only 32 Head Coaching jobs making the post more exclusive than the U.S. Senate.

Someone mentioned that Garrett was an Ivy Graduate, so that should tell you that he is smart enough to know that you strike when the iron is hot as nothing is ever guranteed, including any promises Jerry Jones may make to him.

When you have a team that is 11-1 and poised to make a Championship run, this is par for the course and comes with the territory.

This offense put up impressive numbers last year without the Red Jesus. As long as you have a franchise Quarterback, an Offensive Line and a solid Defense, you have a chance.

Jason Garrett would be extremely foolish to not take the Giants Head Coaching job if it is offered too him. He has a pretty good quarterback, a franchise that has some tradition of winning and it is a team he should be very familiar with.

They talked about this on sports radio here in Houston this morning as well. I agree with the announcers that Jerry will do his best to keep Jason short of letting Phillips go. In the end it will be Jason's call and whatever he chooses I wish him the best but no doubt I would love for him to stay.

Garrett is not blind. He has seen Eli play.... that right there ensures that he wont go to the Giants.

Coaches always feel they are the ones who can turn a program or a player around. Eli being in NY is not going to be what makes Garrett leave or stay. One reason Jason very well could choose NY is because of his close relationship with the front office that is the main thing any coach is looking for it faith from the top people in a franchise. Players come and go

Posted this in another thread but it's very possible that both Garrett and Sparano could be gone next year. Teams are going to raid our coaching staff. Look at San Diego last year and that's a very realistic possability of what our future might hold.

Every team in our division is a possability for a new HC in 08. They would all like to take advantage of addition by subtraction, I would think.

Eli will never be consistent. He IS good... but cant make it through a full season without 2 or 3 major pitfalls.

Garrett's relationship to Dallas and Jerry is alot closer than it is with NY.

Look no further than what happened in San Diego last year. Team had great success and resultantly both OC's became HC's elsewhere the next year.

Ron Rivera as the Bears DC was also a hot candidate but ultimately got left in the cold I suspect because people perceived it was really Lovie pulling the strings a la Wade & Brian Stewart in Dallas.

The SF offense last year showed major improvement under Norv so...

There is VERY good reason to be concerned that Red will get HC offers this offseason..

This is a very big factor and something not to be overlooked. I'm sure Garrett has seen the plans and knows the details for that stadium, i can't imagine anyone not being excited about the prospect of coaching in that venue.

I know i would.

The Giants will also have a new stadium. Not as nice as ours IMO but still, the facilities will be brand new.
