Very possibly, but the offense was pretty good last year too, without Garrett. Red certainly deserves a ton of credit, but there are other good coaches doing spectacular work, too. The biggest improvements in the Dallas offense from last year have come at QB and OL, and I doubt Romo would be having an MVP-type season without the Pro Bowl play of some guys in front of him. I think Garrett's brother deserves props, too. We have the best set of TEs in the league. The blocking we're seeing from the TEs has improved dramatically.
I hope I'm wrong, I really, really do. But I think the chances of JG being the next head coach of the Cowboys are fairly slim.
Why do you think the chances of Garrett being our next head coach are very slim?? From my perspective:
The Cowboys are a known commodity and are going to be playing in a new stadium second to none
Wade could be a 2 or 3 year head coach. Garrett gets a big fat raise and learns a lot more interpersonal skills from an experienced players head coach
Garrett knows the Cowboys are positioned and personnel resourced to possibly make a several year run like the Patriots
Garrett has a potential franchise quarterback in Romo to help ensure his head coaching legacy
Garrett has an ownership family that is very football oriented and gave him another opportunity of a lifetime by hiring him as the O coordinator with the prospect of being head coach some day. No other team offered this to Garrett BEFORE he proved himself. That right there should be embedded in Wayne Garrett's mind.
Is it possible he could still walk, yes...but I highly doubt it. I am more concerned with Sparano doing that.
