The Cowboys have placed the second-round tender on defensive end Stephen Bowen for the second straight year.

Last year, the Cowboys paid Bowen $1.545 million. This year, he will earn $1.759 million provided a team doesnot try and scoop up the versatile defensive end. Bowen was credited with 32 tackles and three sacks in 2009 and both were career highs.

If a team wants to sign Bowen, then the Cowboys would have a week to match an offer. If they elected not to, then they would receive a second-round pick as compensation.

i expect Jerry is working on a new deal for Miles and won't tender unless we get to the deadline

Why not tender in the mean time, costs nothing if you are working a long term deal out.

I really wish "you people" would quit worring about Miles Austin. He's going nowhere.

Actually it could. If someone decides they want him and they decide to give him a deal then it forces Jerry to sign him to that deal or lose him.

So, yeah, there is some harm but, of course, the flip side is that if you don't tender him then you can lose him to someone and get absolutely nothing.

b/c when you tender you pretty much signal that you are ending negotiations. once there is a tender the player and agent are going to want to speak to other clubs. that is simply how things work.

It's the only one that's been leaked so far.

Wonder what Hatcher and Spears get. Assuming there isn't long term deals for them esp Spears.

Hatcher was post injury much of last year. We didn't get to see him 100% all year even though he came on a little at the end.

Since they were both fairly high picks, I would think they will get original tenders.

Good to see that. It seems everytime he came in he made a play. I was worried about losing him towards the middle of the season.

It's interesting that he get's a tender before Spears. We might be letting him walk...
