I don't believe Hamlin is as good as Sanders, but he isn't injured as often either.

I never really understood the "injury prone" argument. Strictly speaking, a player who has never been injured before is just as likely to get injured as one who has. Unless, the one who has is still struggling to get over a previous injury. But once he heals, he is no more likely to get injured than someone who has never had an injury, unless it is a function of "playing style" like Marion Barber or something. Then again, Barber has been in the league 3 years now and has not had a major injury.

he isn't a coverage guy in the sense that he will lock-down guys one on one, which safety is? but he reads route progressions really well, and seems to be where the ball is thrown, at least when I've watched him, the reason IMO that he doesn't have more INTs, is because he always plays the receiver, looking for the big hit and tackle, rather than the ball
So he allows them to catch the ball THEN tackles them.

Sounds like a recipe for success.

I'm just glad to hear he's close to a deal and I don't have to wonder about the FS position any longer. I'm all for the resigning of Hamlin.

He hasnt signed yet, from what I hear, Hamlin is wanting like 2 years for 50 million, that isnt going to be done for that much;

hamlin said to his mind, even admitted that jerry jones made him a very good offer over the weekend, but hamlin and his agent are trying to get as much as they can, while hamlin said the cowboys are trying to get as low as they can

what i viewed, the cowboys came up on their offer, but hamlin and his agent havent come down, seems like what i am hearing between the lines

now push may come to shove, and hamlin settles on the last day to settle for like 34 million or so, but i dont see the cowboys going higher,

but if they do jerry jones will try to get hamlin to sign a big signing bonus to get the first 3 years or so cheaper on the cap, and backend loaded

You sure about that? Is that a typo or sarcasm?

thats what hamlin said on his interview with nate newton and michael irvin

now most likely he was probably kidding, but michael irvin or nate asked him with the 3 safeties recently signing for 30, 33 and 39 million, how much do you think your worth for 5 years,

hamlin said laughing 2 years for 50 million;

go listen to the tape podcast

then you add in the fact, that irvin asked him, about the big offer jerry jones gave halmin and his agent over the weekend,

hamllin again laughed, and said were getting there, and jerry jones is making me feel wanted and welcome; so why didnt hamlin sign the offer, from what i heaard was a big offer too, so that to me makes you wonder

That's kind of what safeties are supposed to do in the Tampa 2, keep plays in front of them. isn't it?

wow....

no buts about it.....hamlin, nate, and irvin all made it VERY CLEAR that they were being extremely scarcastic with the whole 2 years 50 million notion.

Your first sentence was right on. Ints. don't mean that much, at least IMO. I'd much rather have a tackling machine that can cover. Sanders, when healthy, is good. Not that Hamlin isn't. I just think Sanders is a bit better.

Sanders has actually struggled covering TE's in the past. He was terrible covering TE's in 2005 and the Steelers used it against him in the playoff game. Then in 2006, he was injured for most of the year. He was good last year at covering, but for the most part coverage hasn't been a strongsuit of Sanders. I like to watch the guy and he's one of the best safeties in the league IMO, but I do feel he's a bit overrated. I thought Hamlin was pretty good last year, but the pre-06 Hamlin was far better because he could cover and stop the run. There were lapses in Hamlin's tackling at times last year.
