INDIANAPOLIS — The Cowboys have had talks with cornerback Brandon Carr’s agent since they have been in Indianapolis.

Owner Jerry Jones wouldn’t divulge what was discussed, cryptically saying, “We’ll see where it goes.”

But a pay cut for Carr has been hinted at as a possibility. He is scheduled to count $12.7 million against the salary cap in 2015 after producing no interceptions last season.

i have always thought car was our most fundamentally sound CB

He's not bad when playing just straight up man-to-man but his off man and zone play this last season was horrendous.

they all had moments even sterling but they never seemed to step in front of one on the big drive our LB really excelled last season....

Really hope they get a good deal done for both sides, one that will cut his salary and drastically lower his cap hit. Losing him would create yet another gaping hole. We're already a bit over the barrel with Dez, Murray, Free/Parnell, and all of our LBs.

If I was Carr's camp I would just tell the cowboys no. If Carr gets cut he will probably be one of the better corners available and there are a ton of teams looking to upgrade the position.

Hard to think we would pay him 10 million in any form and stiff Murray with less....

agreed, but they're in a pickle with $12+ mil in dead cap money at risk. They found themselves a few years ago in a similar situation with Free where they were able to renegotiate his way high contract after a terrible season, would like the same result. With that, can't see how they get away renegotiating less than $8M area and is still more than what I expect Murray to ever be offered.

No he's not.

His numbers in 2014 were awful.

I hope both sides can come to a mutually beneficial compromise.

Of course that is what everyone would want. But I'll bet the difference between the pay cut the Cowboys want Carr to take and how far Carr is willing to go in pay (if any) is far far apart.

He turned up his game toward the end of the year. He is definitely capable of being a starting corner if he is used properly. I'd rather keep Carr than have to replace him. Who knows how clairborne will be and Moore showed he is a serviceable corner, but not one you want to start each week

Another corner is probably going to be brought on board, even if Carr is retained.

Yeah, Carr played better but he's no longer a top flight CB, and no one will pay him as one.

With the cap increasing and cb being a position of need - he would still be paid decently.
