Cowboys have named new stadium, but it's still a secret

Jerry wants this stadium to be his legacy - that's why I doubt you ever see Landry's name anywhere on the name.

"Cowboys Stadium" gets my vote until he manages to sell the naming rights.
I think you're not far off. I think they will simply call it Dallas Cowboys Stadium and later add a corporate sponsor.

The Doomsday Dome, our defense can be called the Legion of Doom

The Terror Dome

The Death Star

I would just like to get on the record that I think with two huge 1/4 mile arches in the stadium... McDonald's as a corporate sponsor would be just too perfect.

If there is any justice in the world, Jimma Johnson Pro Stadium.

It would be a final break between the old and the new Cowboys era.

After all, Jimma, with his superb coaching and motivational techniques and smarts, brought us 2 Lombardinis and another one in which he was absent.

In a way, it is the Stadium that Jerra AND JIMMA built.

Makes perfect sense, doesn't it?

McStadium :)

OK, I'll let the cat out of the bag, even if Jerry gets pissed at me...

They're gonna name it SilverBear Stadium, 'cause Jerry appreciates my efforts on all these message boards... :D

It's never going to happen. The fans have to let it go. We are not the only team in the NFL that has a influential first coach or coach period. Yes, the Packers honored their first coach. It was a nice gesture but it's not some thing Jerry needs to do or is obligated to do and it's not in the best financial interest of the team.

There are other ways to honor Landry that does not involve naming a stadium Jerry invested millions in himself or that could cost the team millions.
I agree. In addition, they'll still have the big bronze statue out front.

The Cowboys are building a multi-level HOF for it's former players and other historical figures. I think Landry will be more than memorialized when it's done.

It really does. I noticed it while I was watching the "Build It Bigger" show earlier this week.

Surely McDonald's, Jerry, or someone has made the connection.

McD Stadium in Big D... home of the quarter pounder and the quarter mile arches. :p:

McD and Big D. Quarter mile arches and Golden arches. It goes together like peanut butter and jelly.

I have a sneaking feeling Condom sense has ponied up and struck a deal!!!

There is no possibility that Tom Landry will have a part in it. Coach Landry passed away several yeary ago. Didn't you get the memo?

How about,

God's field at Landry Stadium.
We still got that hole in the roof for a reason.

Lone Star Field at __________ stadium.

Lone Star Park is the name of a horse racing facility in Grand Prairie, not too far from the new Cowboys Stadium so i doubt if that happens.

pretty much all the folks i talk to just refer to it already as Cowboys Stadium
(except those who call it Jerry something or Jones whatever)

so did Curly Lambeau that didn't stop the packers from naming their stadium Lambeau field.

Just because hes dead (Rip coach) doesn't mean he will be forgotten.

Damn I didn't realize. There goes my preference.

I know they have been calling it Cowboys Stadium, but I assumed that is because the official name hasn't been released. I hope they come up with something more creative though. It would be a bit like naming my dog "Dog".

No way we do a deal with McDonald's. We would have to paint those arches gold and that would mess with the color scheme. :)

I was just being sarcastic with the OP. I do believe that there are better ways to honor Tom Landry other than naming the new stadium After him.

I think if we were all able to ask Tom Landry in Heaven, he would insist that Jerry take advantage of the billion dollar naming rights opportunity rather than throw it away on his behalf, because, "For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known."
