Cowboys have never gone 14-2 (Historic thread, not about current)

I appreciate the recognition. I thought for sure that Hostile would have cleared that one up pretty quickly.

It is silly to think about that when you simply throw in one team from the last 2 seasons alone...The Packers.

Not a problem, smart is smart, no matter which team you back. If the Cowboys went 16-0 for years on end, there would be someone picking apart why they won that many.."oh, this team had injuries or that laid down to rest their players" There is one goal and that's to win the SB, everything else is a loss, numbers and stats be damned. I'll take the team that has more SB wins and appearances then those who had better seasonal records.

Having more wins help but the Giants may prove that this stat is very useless

Doesn't even matter.

Check out our winning percentage from the late 60s to mid-80s. It's disgustingly amazing.

The NFC East historically is one of the toughest divisions in the NFL...what other division can boast as many Super Bowl appearances as the NFC East?

Commanders - 5
Giants - 5
Cowboys - 8
Eagles - 2

Not true. As Hostile has pointed out,

we were 12-2 after 14 games in 1977. As we won the next two, I'm pretty sure we were 14-2 at one point.

Not sure why you put "even the" down in reference to the Commanders, Broncos, and Dolphins, which were all elite franchises until this decade (In the case of the Broncos, I'm not entirely convinced they aren't still an elite franchise going through a little bit of a dry spell).

When the Browns, Lions, or Bengals go 14-2, then it is OK to be surprised.

The two 14-2 teams from traditionally weak organizations - Atlanta and Jacksonville - both failed to win the Super Bowl and thus can't even match our 16-3 in '92, let alone 15-2 in '77.

Obviously he was referring to going 14-2 during the regular season.
