Cowboys have no foundation to build upon

Walk me thru how a "garbage" qb can make All-Pro like Dak did in 23-24 season.
Sure buddy.. was a laughing stock until the bye when he got annihilated by the 49ers.. basically force fed CeeDee Lamb, the best YAC WR in the game, after the bye.. was mediocre to end the season, throwing 5 picks in his last 5 games and playing his worst football as an “all pro” against the Packers with 2 picks, 1 pick 6 in the half and should have had another right before the half when the LB dropped it, only to start the season back like the “all pro” he was to end the season and suck it up majorly when teams just doubled lamb…

But congratulations, you got a 5 game win against a bunch of bad teams in an “all pro year”, in a 9 year career of mediocrity….

Hats off to you..

Like I said, these analogues are useless. Dak walked into a SB roster, with 3 all pros on OL, and a RB averaging 5 YPC on first down and leading the league in yards after contact, while facing the most stacked boxes….

That 2016 team was the youngest in the league and was a team to build on, but they wasted that roster to train that mediocrity at QB..

The Head Coach isn't the Cowboys biggest problem, it's that they have no foundation of Players to build up on and give hope.
There is no Depth at Dline to build on. We are likely to lose our starters, Osi and Gholston, in Free Agency. They aren't great players but they were the best we had.
The CB depth is non-existent with Diggs likely out next year, and Bland is our only good CB.
Jordan Lewis is a Slot CB and will likely be in demand in FA.
The Safeties are pedestrian to put it kindly.
The Oline is Average at best.
Cee Dee is our only legitimate starting WR. We have a bunch of 3's and 4's but no 1B or 2's on the roster.
The QB is paid as Elite but he is no where near and is often injured.
At every level, there is no young talent waiting to take over and fill the gaps, the cupboard is bare.
The team that doesn't play a big role in FA likely won't again and given the Cap commitments to 3 players paid at the NFL Highest, there is no money to save the day.
You throw in Jeanty or a dominat runner to go with Lamb and Parsons and you do have a foundation.

lol I stopped reading here, since you're somehow trying to make a qb throwing to his only big target a bad thing. So I know the rest would be just reaching trying to make Dak look bad.

Jerry loves you.

How did that SB roster perform in the playoffs?

Yes, I would. And I thought Dak was just OK at the time.

Dak had 3,667 yds passing w/ only 23 TDs. Pure bus driver. And yes, I thought so at the time.
Plus, they were limiting half the playbook. Pure bus driver. Not handing that team back over to a healthy Romo is one of the dumbest and least classy things i;ve seen in Dallas. That 2016 team was designed for him.

Plus you have an amateur GM that makes questionable moves.
The future ain't bright.

Totally agree with the OP here. I've seen quite a few posts about "we only need to shore up the defense and they will be back in it"

Please be real, this team has more holes than swiss these that's been shot with a machine gun

There is no guarantee he is still around at 12, and even if he is, the draft is RB strong and I don't trust the idiots to take a RB RD 1

But they do have a one hell-a-va outdated stadium. Time for Jerry to ask for another $1,000,000,000.00 from local tax payers.
Ha ha…

og tyler smith
ot tyler guyton
c cooper beebe
og brock hoffman
those are some good young pieces there along the line to build with.
we add a rb in the draft and it looks even better.

de/lb micah parsons
lb marist liufau
cb daron bland
de marshawn kneeland
s donovan wilson
when sam williams, demarvion overshown and trevon diggs return from their injuries...it'll look better on that side of the ball.
dt mazi smith looks like he's starting to figure it out.
we need to add another thru the draft.
i don't think its a lost cause.
pieces are there.

I would draft or sign a receiver, a couple of running backs, and maybe one OL and I think you can genuinely turn around the offense. Now the key is definitely Dak staying healthy and playing at a high level. But if you actually commit to running the ball and have the personnel to do it I could see that being successful.

Defense is going to be a tougher fix and I honestly don't think you're going to be able to fill all the gaps like we can on offense this offseason. DT is a major need, LB is a major need, and safety is a major need. And DB kind of is too tbh.

Lol we were just a 3 time 12 win team but now we have nothing. Yea ok. This team can EASILY bounce back if Jerry uses common sense. EASILY
This team is about to sink to all time lows in franchise history over the next few years. EASILY
